[pb74 spoilers] FUNNY IMAGE THREAD

And this was especially annoying since the only city I could share food with the capital with needed fishing too. This was really an issue with having awful start techs available. I probably shouldn't have rerolled Persia since the Aztecs ended up being so much worse and other players grabbed all the fish / mine civs early, but what can ya do...

I completely agree. My point was that the corn alone was the same food benefit as both clams together (before lighthouses). But yes, giving people double clam/crab without even a 3h tile to build workboats on us just cruel and unusal.

I'm glad to read you didn't take my attack badly. I was feeling somewhat guilty leaving you with only islands doomed to be an expectator for the rest of the game. I didn't expect your start to be this bad.

In that regard we had somewhat similar starting conditions. The land that clearly belonged to us wasn't great and we had to compete for the more juicy land between us. With your worse capital spot you had a crucial disadvantage at that point in the game.

My land was definitely awful and the start was bad. but I made it 100x worse for myself by not settling the copper first ring.

Still upset that Gavagai prevented me from successfully(?) invading you with my entire stack. Was fun tho. smile

Did you build all those galleys and triremes just for the invasion? I feel like going to Astro first would have been more efficient

Most of them were built just for the invasion. When i saw/decided not to continue aggression towards Plemo, and Picca was already at rifles.. i decided i was toast anyway, so i might as well try and have some fun.

My tech rate had been utter dogshit from having to whip like a madman to stay alive vs Plemo, along with not having all that great of land. Without the mids' i wouldnt have any research. I ended up just swapping to Police state iirc and going from there. I was at full research, 25+turns away from astro BEFORE losing all my cities. I WAS bee-lining for Astro, as i was also hoping to get an astro island somewhere that i could survive for awhile and because i saw you had caravels.

I still dont quite understand why Gavagai did what he did, but /shrug. Ill have to navy-invade someone another game. Do you believe without Gavagai's help you would have been able to hold?

I would have died to the invasion without Gavagai. Problem was that I had mainly Cbows for defense which would die to elephants. I could have put all my hammers into longbows and spears and cats instead, but I thought it would be more fun to build wealth to try and scratch my way to astro. I almost lived that way too.

He wanted to keep Greenlines culture around a bit longer to use against Piccadilly.

He invaded and conquered most of Greenline within 10t of pushing me out. So that doesnt really make sense either. Also picca didnt have a navy/any real harm in it. I do not believe that there wasnt at least some part of that being "its superdeath, how dare he have fun" or something close to that. Taking that city would give picca... what? 3extra tiles of workable land? AFTER he already razed most of his improvements anyway? Doesnt make sense to me.

He conquered my cities after taking cities from piccadilly that would have been culture crushed. Although I think it was being very focused on inches and my cities had no impact on the game at that point
