Also, I've always thought it too bad that trebs see so much less play than catapults. Would it have been too much to make them base strength 5 and tone down the city attack bonus to +60% to match?
Looks like the text is different in each case:

I don't know about trebs beyond doing what Krill's done, putting them on the Machinery hand. It's easier with forges everywhere too, they're just overcosted for a strength 8 unit.

Filler time. Need the fish for the capital's health, having a second silver available to trade seems moot, and...why not? These things are so easy to be profitable with terrace/courthouse -65% maint.

It's cute, just maximally low-base-strength units with nutty +100% and +135% bonuses to the attack. I've got the highest base strength unit in the world available now:

Poor Yuri, I never was going to look at attacking with knights thanks to his landsknechts, it was always mace/treb/xbow.

Pindicator landed MoM last turn. Just didn't have enough hands to chase all the rabbits, but I really really want to sweep most if not all the marble-using Aesthetics/Literature/Music wonders.

Interesting, I managed to watch this one while I was still online with tile micro.

...so should I permit it? I have the power to snag the Foody Peninsula if I want, but Yuri's the better target.

Aesthetics in two turns, six chops to Parthenon and an even more powerful Caste Sequence. Empire looking...really nice.

I'm in the catbird seat but I'm not nearly at runaway status yet. Six more cities are easy to settle right now, too. My biggest concern is to not get double-teamed, so I'm willing to allow Pin to keep the peninsula as my security...that's more surface area for him to defend, particularly with his Thoth border to his north [somewhere]. I'm able to defend pretty well right now, but I think Yuri's my more likely expansion target. Might be a cuir target.

Don't get me wrong, they're annoying me. Yuri's settle here will steal my plan for oasis/iron/shared corn to the south.

I need to remember the FFH rule where you keep a certain amount of gold on-hand for events like these. I guess all the event log watchers know I have Aesthetics now.

Meh, it's fine, everyone else knows about it in five chops more anyway. Three turns to get a huge GPP boost.

If I have a doubler and it's a wonder, there's basically zero reason NOT to build a wonder. This will be a nice aid in the culture fight around here too.

Bureaucracy in 6 turns, I'd revolt now if it wasn't this close to a golden age. This is going to be a huge capital, I'm just going for the National Epic here too, enjoy the roulette I guess. The theme is RANDOMNESS, so of COURSE we need a roulette wheel in the capital.

Is that event a settled GA, or an actual GA?

I thought your post re maces/trebs was signalling an intent for hammer  in that era, by the way.

It's just a settled GA, not an active one, that'd be crazy. I'm not against mace/treb war, but everything about THIS:

...says just keep on building. Notably, I need to get a good HE city going with one of the more lumbermill-heavy spots, and fix that one issue (MFG) by Caste Workshop Madness in a golden age.

I have a decent stack if it was consolidated, 8 trebs/8 maces/ 6 xbows would wreck Yuri's Lower Toe, but look at the right...those hamlets will all be villages extremely soon. Better to fight with cuirs next era, my gut impulse says.
