[PB79] MirOh No, what am I doing?

1) Woke up stupid early, so I logged in and you are 4th in GNP!!! Mind you its a tech with no prereq, but still. I like the full monk wonders more now.
2) What happened to Cumae being a commerce city? Its actually now a great candidate to chop Taj out of. If you don't get that maybe its a lumbermill city? 3) related to the above either you needed more workers or needed to prioritize. I like the filler cities, but it seems like they've gotten worker attention that could have gone to core cities and could have settled the filler later. Probably not worth building workers now though. 4) Scout in Xist territory on border. I know he is involved in a war, but good habit and he is your main competitor. 5) I was going to suggest like a 10 knight force, but honestly I think you need to focus on catching up atm. Missionaries and monk buildings being a priority. Really focus on getting religion spread before next GA. Maybe like 5 knights then wealth builds. 6) Grow your cities before next GA. Most of them shouldn't be whipped unless they are working unimproved tiles. 7) This is greedy, but you already have a great engineer. Put him elsewhere, save him, and use the artist plus whatever you get next for the GA. You can always decide to use him on a 3 man GA instead as its a rather rare type for you.
Ironclads can be good on defense, if you have narrow straits to blockade. They are just too slow for anything else though.

I just checked out the Civ Fanatics Demo Screen Explanation to see it's calculated: Code: Total commerce + total culture + total espionage + (total research * research bonus) - total expenses 2) Still intended on Cumae being a commerce city and you're right, I have too few workers. Still improving a lot of tiles in that land. I'll look at it again with your notes. 4) I sent a 2nd Chariot through xist's border ~5T ago, then sent him up to watch the fireworks. I can send him back down to our border, though. 6) Yeah after seeing my low, low pop during the last GA, I'm trying to pay more attention to population size during GAs and limit whips before them.
1) I'm basically saying cut knight production for wealth builds, but missionaries and infrastructure still first. Can finish however many you've started.
T163 War Update:
Coldrain's navy build up is finally ready to compete over the islands, but his invading army just got WIPED! T162 his forces sieging outside Oea: T163 same force: I knew xist had a solid army near Oea/Sarim Batim, but he reinforced real quick. 3 more coldrain Frigates in the south. xist also has a canal. Our navy will be split to one of two seas unless we build the super canal in preparation for a later war. He has 2 Great Generals in Hadrumetum. xist will likely beat us to Taj Mahal. His research history: T160: Finish Military Science T161: Finish Civil Service T162: Finish Philosophy Our current tech path is Education (4T), Philosophy (2T), Liberalism (4T) -> Astronomy, Civil Service (2T), Nationalism (5T)
Power of collateral. It's nice getting this lesson not first hand. Learn well.
Might need the canal might not. Focus on other worker tasks for now. 1) Save gold for your GA for faster teching. 2) i know you had said 10 turns a few turns back, but maybe sooner is better despite wanting religion in most first / more pop. Im a little worrierd about xist getting lib. Again I would save the GE. Not sure when "soon" is but maybe save gold for 3 turns then launch?
T166 Update:
WE WON! ... an election. (T165) I liked the faster GA idea and see I can finish Nationalism before it ends, so I just started my 2nd GA! War Update xist's army just left Oea, I lost sight of it. This was his Oea army T165: xist very very recently got open borders with Gira, so his army is either headed through Fort Yukon to hit Okran's Gulf later this turn orrrrr or or or my paranoia is surging again and he's headed all the way to hit me! I'm sure you all laugh at that, but he sent a Knight into my land after seeing my Chariot patrol his cities at our border, so I could see him being worried that his 1 Archer defense is being targeted. Or he sees the power graph in his favor and my score spiking, so he wants to hit me to punish any greed. I'm 90% thinking he's going after coldrain's Okran's Gulf through Gira's land, but calling my senator to do something about this in case my 10% paranoia was right. coldrain is about to own the naval battle! T165 xist's main navy: T166 coldrain's main navy, moving out: China Update: Tech path: T168 Education T169 Civil Service T170 Philosophy T172 Liberalism -> Nationalism I thought xist would go straight for Nationalism and beat us to Taj Mahal, but he's teching Paper instead. Wonders: Finished AP a few turns ago T168 Forbidden Palace T168 University of Sankore T171 Spiral Minaret coldrain finished Angkor Wat about 3T into his war with xist. Thoughts on this donation I sent coldrain this turn? (Q1 below) His war with xist is pretty close, but I think he's about to lose more ground. I see he has no Wine, let's get those soldiers drunk! Maybe it helps him whip a little more or something. I can always cancel this later. I'm assuming xist can't see trades between us. Tech Screen: Pre-GA Demographics: I have 2nd GNP now, doing OK. GA Dems: Questions: (Q1): Aside from directly entering wars or trade embargos, are there any other ways players influence foreign wars? Resource donation was the only way I could think of. (Q2): How do naval battles usually go in MP? I realize xist can just run away forever or hide in a city, so coldrain's navy just buys him map control to invade islands/coast. |
