Would people actually build Swordsman since Vultures have same strength and 25% bonus against Swordsman? Maybe for the 10% city attack bonus, but i don't see how that compares to a Vulture (and is a Vulture cheaper)?

The plains hill with gold and horses seems pretty attractive:
I have to run.

Scooter thinks Dazed has gone BW, whereas he has really gone for archery...
This game might be over rather quickly if Dazed gets an archer choke down solidly.

T-Hawk, mind sharing the map this time around? I'm interested to see your thoughts about it.

Ok, here's the overview of their latest game:
They start a bit farther apart this time; about one city site away from the mirror line. This central area is fertile economically but not about strategic resources. Notice the gold tiles, and the food resources (banana and river wheat) behind them; the intent is that each player should settle for food and gold rather than trying to claim both golds. There's also a floodplains area a little behind each capital site (didn't make it into that screenshot). Iron is within each capital radius -- presumably the players will go for Iron Working quickly in order to clear the jungle gems. Copper and horses are each some distance to the south.
I picked Babylon this time (still Boudica); the Bowman counters warrior chokes and axe rushes, so hopefully this one should last a bit longer. And the capital food is intentionally two Animal Husbandry resources, to make the players research there first rather than gamble on early Bronze for copper.
scooter Wrote:Well what I realized after the start of that game was that I started first in that game and I was west of the mirror. I ran three more tests, and on all of them, the person starting first was on the west side of the mirror.
Scooter's correct that he's in the west, but just by luck. The map script can start the first player on either side, and did so about evenly when I was rolling starts. That said, I directed the players towards each other by placing the second hill (SE of Scooter's capital). I expect the natural T0 move to be warrior to hill, then to keep going in that direction, which Scooter has indeed done.

What's wrong with it?
Btw, looks like scooter could find out which half of the map he's on by checking the arrows of the resource indicators.
EDIT: As usual, ignore my ramblings. The indicator arrows just point to the center of the current view.
I have to run.

And remember kids, 5 tiles away is "minimum safe distance". Until Commando units come in to play (and they're Boudica...only 13XP required).
To get 13XP: Barracks + Stables (if Mounted) + West Point + Theo + Vassalage, or settling ONE GG, or building the Pentagon (which is allowed).
My bet is that the first person who pulls this off successfully wins. Munro Lives!

But Mounted units don't get the free C1 promo; they need 20xp.
