I'm debating a theme of tiny marine animals, thought I'm not sure what to call the capital.

Completely unrelated, it's good to have Krill back!!

Your first Civ choice: Khmer

Your first leader choices: Tokugawa, Ghandi

Starting screenshots will be posted in a couple days. You may wait to finalize a choice until then. You may reject or accept any of these choices. You will have a max of 2 more choices of civ and a max of 4 more leaders.

huh

Toku: agg/pro
Gandhi: spi/phi

Khmer: super elephants, extra food (but for a building I won't build)

Gandhi is interesting, Toku not. Gandhi, however, has what seems to me a specific best plan: pick up stonehenge and a religion and get a shrine from henge quickly.

Khmer starts with mining and hunting, both of which could be useful for a fast stonehenge.

Question:

Are we doing this entirely in the dark? I'm fine with that, btw. Alternates woudl be that we know what leaders/civs have not been picked or we know what everyone has for choices. Completely in the dark is fine.

Yeah it's going to be in the dark, you don't know what's been locked in and what hasn't.

But also, we don't know what wasn't picked at all. It could be that the 5 leaders that did not get distributed were fin or they were all agg. We don't know!!

So, if there's 25 players and 55 leaders, then it's quite likely that the best traits will be kept. Ie, only way a top 25 leader gets dropped is if it was paired with another another 25 leader. Now, that is almost certainly going to happen a couple of times.

Assume of the at least 30 of the leaders to be available, only 3 or 4 will be top 25. So, if I have a top 25 leader, I should probably not exchange a leader, because the chances are that I'll get a worse leader. But, I think that even if my best leader is just like top 30, I probably shouldn't exchange it because mostly the leaders that will be available for the repick are going to be bad. So, like Toku I would definitely throw back. In my initial quick ranking, Gandhi is 35. so, say 10 people repick leaders - that would mean that 20 leaders better than Gandhi would be available and 20 worse, so with 2 picks, I'd improve 75% of the time and get worse 25% of the time. I dunno that I agree with my fast trait rankings (well, i think Toku is still one of the worst), but in any case, I suspect Gandhi is on the brink of being worth throwing back. I think Spiritual is underrated and spi/phil is quite interesting.

Civs are a different thing: I think it's very unlikely many civs get thrown back (there's 32 I think), so abotu 1/4 of civs weren't picked, so maybe 4 of those are top 25. So, if I have a marginal civ (20-25), it might make a lot of sense to throw it back.

I suspect the starts will work for any civ/trait combination, with a deer, a crab/clam and a wheat/corn (or maybe an AH resource)

As you can tell, I have no idea what I'm doing - I'm thinking I'm keep Khmer, but who knows?
