Wow I really like this game idea... And I really like this whole PBEM duel idea too. I wouldn't mind starting up something like this actually, just as a fun side thing.

Cyneheard made a good point about not connecting copper to be able to spam warriors. We should take bets on how long it will take for their borders to touch and how long it will take for all the land to be claimed.

Here's my problem with this sort of game: think of how much time was lost just emailing the save back and forth in the early game. This is always peace - there are no double moves. This sort of game would be 10x better IMHO via pitboss, especially when the first 50 turns could be played in a single hour. Connection and coordination issues are trivial with only two players.

Here's a map overview, not that there is a whole lot to see. Looks like any other Mirror map, with a big belt of jungle in the middle, ice at the poles, and grass and desert inbetween.

And a slightly more relevant overview of the starting neighborhood. This is Cyneheard's on the right side; Krill's is mirrored on the left of course.

The major feature is the big whack of flood plains south of each capital. Whoever sees that first and bootstraps a commerce city there will have a leg up. Other than that, there's no drastically awesome or completely terrible sites near either of the capitals. Not a lot of commerce resources either, just the one gold. There's a marble resource for each player on the very topmost row of the map in the ice; probably never worth settling without world wonders in the game. All the strategic resources are close by except uranium; there is one for each player close to the middle of the map (same latitude as the capitals) and one in the south tundra.

Overall I think it came out surprisingly open-ended and balanced for a completely random map script roll.

It would be interesting to see one of these played on a duel map as OCC.

I'm in too many games right now to sign up though.

Cyneheard's southern cities seem like better spots than Krill's NW city... Agree/disagree?

I'd agree.

I actually disagree for the early 2nd city. Cyneheard's southern spots are better overall but for expansion purposes, Krill's is going to help him get an edge there...well should. Apparantly Cyneheard beat him quite early to a 3rd city. I guess we'll see.

Well, we know Cyneheard hasn't peeked at the map overview smile
