Well after the draft i've come up with Gilgamesh of Greece, Not one of my top choices but i'm not to unhappy.

With Gilgamesh i've got the only Creative leader in the game, Free border pops are nice and couple this with cheap libraries, theatres and odeons at least there is a little synergy with the Greeks. Protective is one of the worse if not the worse trait but the CG and Drill bonus's coupled with cheap walls and the culture from creative does lend itself to what i call aggresive settling.

The Greeks have got the Phalanx, really just an ordinary axeman that doesn't have to worry about chariots and the Odeon, an extra happy and three culture make this an above average UB in my book.

once the draft is done i'll have a look at what the other players picks are and maybe make a few comments

Well off we go

the start shows three food bonus' and one happy, the happy i can improve staight away using hunting.

Moving the warrior revealed nothing that constituted a good reason for moving so we settled Drenan in place

Tech plan with the sheep and pig food resources means AH, Mining and BW are my first three techs

i had planned on going warrior first based on starting with a scout, but as it appears we may have all started with a warrior i'll start with a worker and keep my warrior close to home.

As i meet the various other players i'll make my oft ill informed and completely wrong assumptions on how i expect those player to play

With Kyans assertion that the defogged area was intentional i had a closer look, if the silver were gold i say it was El Dorado. a nice city to have but thats in the future

moving the warrior south revealed plains corn? and fish. The interesting thing was when i pressed end turn my borders popped, revealing a lot more of the surrounding land. The shape of the land is too regular to be randomley generated, i wonder if this is some type of triangular continental team battleground map with lots of triangular continents. A pity war elephants are banned

my warrior will go NE next turn and then swing round NW and SW

Scouting continues, seems to be a reasonable amount of food available

continued moving the scout, NE and then NW. I'll most probably now continue westward to try and see if we're on an island although i suppose to really find this out i'd first have to go 2NE. Barbs aren't the problem as they don't appear to turn 35 but still a chance of one of the other players approaching from the west and walking into an unguarded capital.

Scouting revealed a plains corn, there is a nice coastal city with the wheat, sheep, corn giving +8 food surplus with three plains hills and two grass hills for production and more importantly on the coast. it will enable me to get a work boat out for scouting.
