PitBoss/PBEM with PB2 map

Right guys and gals,

Following on from Krill's suggestion in the other thread, I was wondering if there is enough interest in starting a new PitBoss/PBEM using the PitBoss 2 map with a few small modifications.

Basic principle is that the map would be very similar, but there would likely be some changes in resource positioning so we can't all use the dotmaps of the predecessors, along with some new combos to change the flavour of it, along with addressing the small issues of imbalance from before.

It will be a map we know a lot about, but with the critical changes - not so much that we end up just following in the footsteps of the last game and can put our own marks on the game we play.

I know a lot of people thought that the PB2 map was a great concept, and so I wish to gauge interest in this.

FWIW, but to do that game justice you'd need to repick the civs/leaders in a normal snakepick and randomize the starting positions, all of which is simple. Also that map probably does need to keep NTT or some limit on diplomacy if TT is enabled.

Of course Krill - new combos, randomized positions & NTT are all a given.

I don't think there would be much else needing to be done besides the moving of resources on the map by a mapmaker.

Hopefully there will be the interest as this could get off the ground quite quickly as long as someone will modify the map as needed.

Would be interested to play with a 24 or up timer, and probably a helpful teammate to update thread/correct my n00b mistakes. No TT is probably ideal/best IMO.

I do believe that sometime during the summer I'll be away for a week or so in late June or August and won't have solid internet IIRC. Another reason why I would prefer a teammate. :D

After thinking about it a little bit and making enquiries, I think I can say that I'm interested in playing.

I've been interested in something like this for some time, though I think I can only realistically fit it into my schedule appropriately if it were a PBEM. I suppose it somewhat depends on the settings as well.

Whatever the situation, I definitely think it best that the map editor is one of the players from the original game.

I don't think this map is remotely possible for a PBEM. It requires 10 players I think, and fitting that many players into a PBEM would be suicide.

If there are 10 teams willing to play, I'll be happy to administer any disputes. You should probably decide on what ruleset you want to use (if any) before starting.

Fair enough. I'll have a think on whether or not I can commit this kind of time and get back before signups close.

One factor in my decision process - is the thinking to use fully unrestricted leaders like the original game or to have some sort of restricted list like PBEMs 11 & 13 and PB4?

I've always wondered what it would be like playing on a map that everyone has seen before. You could really plan out all your strategy well in advance, that way.
