Glory To Arstotzka! ("Papers, Please")

The game "Papers Please" came out on Steam yesterday. From the FAQ:

The communist state of Arstotzka has ended a 6-year war with neighboring Kolechia and reclaimed its rightful half of the border town, Grestin.
Your job as immigration inspector is to control the flow of people entering the Arstotzkan side of Grestin from Kolechia. Among the throngs of immigrants and visitors looking for work are hidden smugglers, spies, and terrorists. Using only the documents provided by travelers and the Ministry of Admission's primitive inspect, search, and fingerprint systems you must decide who can enter Arstotzka and who will be turned away or arrested.

So yes, basically you are checking passports/doccments all game long, but it is surprisingly intriguing how this simple task is connected to a story and some tough moral choices you have to make. Metacritic ratings are quite good as well.

I've seen this in several youtube videos for the past couple months. Surprised its only just on Stream now. Looks interesting though not exactly my cup of tea.

Heh ... just found a obscure shout-out in the game that you really shouldn't be that surprised about ...

The ISBN number on the last page in the rulebook (by the ISBN rules from 2007, taken from the EAN-13 bar coding from the 80's) is the same one as the one attributed to the Centennial Edition of 1984, published in 2003

How can you tell? Are there a lot of games in the "Kafkaesque nightmare" Genre?

The game is 40% off on Steam at the moment (5.39 Euros) for another 40+hours.

The gameplay inevitably gets somewhat tedious, but what it really does well is to put you into someone else's shoes for a couple of hours
