Quote:2K also teases that Beyond Earth and Starships will feature cross-connectivity for people who own both games. The developer isn't talking specifics, but says that this integration will "enhance and expand upon both game experiences."

Why is this beating a dead horse? We don't know if it's even Civilization-derived at all. Maybe it's more like FTL. It could be the fresh TBS experience that Beyond Earth isn't.

And what's wrong with cross-connectivity? Nintendo does it all the time and people like it.

It's beating a dead horse simply from the title: Sid Meier is going to come out with a brand new razor design at this rate.

Maybe you mean that they're wringing every last drop out of the Civilization franchise, not that they're beating a dead horse?
I have to run.

I think the name used to have some meaning, that it came from good stock. I don't think that's the case anymore, the name does not suggest good quality. In this instance, I do believe that Dead Horse fits and it isn't an Eggcorn (our PB18 conversations were truly interesting, weren't they?)

You can play it on iPad so it won't be a big AAA game, but it looks more promising than Beyond Earth did.

From the way they talked about the games "cross-connectivity", I bet Starships will be more MOO-esque than Civ-like. Control one planet in BE, which turns out to be one planet in a big federation in Starships, blah blah, blah.

looks like the player will be moving spaceships around in 2d hexgrid space and doing quests.

Didn´t that brainchild baby of the facebook games hype disappear already?

I am reserving judgement until this comes out, but since BE, there is no day 1 buy for me anymore from Firaxis.

your bet is on. I bet Starships will be more Ace Patrol-esque than Civ-like. Control one planet in BE, which turns out to be the Homeworld. do a quest for a planet. blah, blah. the planet joins your federation. blah, blah. Says Meier, "We want people to get invested in these individual ships so that you recognize them from one encounter to the next.
