So we all know Civ 6 will be out in a couple of months. I'm interested to know if there is any interest in organizing some sort of SP or MP event on release.
For SP, we could carry on tradition and do another iteration of the Civ 3 and Civ 4 games Epic 1: The Honorable French. We'd need an overhaul of the 'Honborable' ruleset to match up with the gameplay of 6, but that shouldn't be too hard to analyze after release.
For MP, do we have any confirmation of what MP options are offered yet? Or is that all still speculations and probablies?

All we heard about MP is that it will be in the game from the start. Seems obvious, but it wasn't the case for Civ5
I don't know how many people are going to buy the game on release after Civ5 and BE, which were both barely playable on release. I hope they will do a demo, as they did with Civ5

I'd play an inaugural Civ 6 event, though along with Krill I am twitchy about going in on the game before it's been in the wild for a bit.
I'm inherently skeptical of launch MP for every game that isn't inherently designed around it (and even some of those); single player or succession games seem like the most fruitful avenues of community play.

Competitive SG are actually a better community event than straight MP on game release, especially no that you can have a turn playert stream to the team to discuss in voice chat or the like. And best of all, not everyone needs to buy the game...

Marketing departments these days are very strong on information control. While I'd like to believe that Firaxis and Take 2 will tighten things up for the flagship franchise, and I know Ed well enough to know that he will have taken steps to correct on some of Civ5's failings (esp the not-ready-for-primetime-release) I also know that if something/anything disrupted the plan or didn't go smoothly, there won't be a peep about it. Early buyers will suffer any issues that may be present.
Still, whether it's sooner or later, there will be a stability plateau. I'd suggest being patient enough to be sure it's been reached before launching Epics. (With Civ4 I was able to start them quickly because I knew exactly what state the game was in on release, before it released.)

EDIT: SGs, of course, can be started immediately. Just need willing adventurers.

I am definitely interested in this. So count me in. I haven't preordered the game, but I have heard good things from a few talks I've had with Brian Busatti about the game (obviously he couldn't disclose too much - but I am really excited about Civ6). Also, I am among the part of the fan base that absolutely adore the new graphics (with the exception of the brown spots beneath the trees, but they may remove those).
As the Americans learned so painfully in Earth's final century, free flow of information is the only safeguard against tyranny. The once-chained people whose leaders at last lose their grip on information flow will soon burst with freedom and vitality, but the free nation gradually constricting its grip on public discourse has begun its rapid slide into despotism. Ehhh, I might participate, depending on what you all decide on... I favor an Adventure above all else. I'm loathe to pre-order the game, but I doubt reviews will be anything other than glowingly positive, and I do have a lot of Steam Bux saved up from selling TF2 crap, which I might as well use.
