"I didn't
realize how much "behind the scenes" stuff is involved...", Griselda First,
a big thanks to Gris for doing a wonderful job upkeeping the sites. Without her
help, I would not have the time and energy to do whatever that is I do. It has
been a 100% positive experience so far. She's great at giving me unbiased feedback
and suggestions as well as being a source of inspiration, while she would gently
crack the whip to keep me in line when I screw up. Still,
there are even more behind the scenes stuff not even Gris might (or want to ;p)
know about. I might have worked on a certain thing for hours (sometimes day) that
just didn't measure up to what I have imagined, and completely erased from the
harddrive. Then there are things that just don't make it to site for one reason
or another. Mind you, no time was ever wasted - not even the time I have spent
on things that didn't even deserve a save to disk. I enjoy what I do. What
you see as a finished product, this site or otherwise, is only a representation
of the best COMPROMISES and a small window into the work behind the scenes. Let
me give you a sneak peek at a small sample of things you would not see if not
for this article...

A screen shot (a
portion) of the original design for this site. I can't remember why I switched
to the layout you see now... maybe it was Lemmy's voice haunting me in the back
of my mind, "Everything (the RBD site) looks so gloomy". So,
it would seem I do listen and complaints are not totally ignored, SOMETIMES ;p |
| This
(a small version) is actually one of the first RB logos I have created and only
used briefly as a page holder for the Other
Pages. I am glad it kept Thecla amused for a few hours. ;) It may still
see some life on the web if Gris likes it. |
You
see the Cleopatra "back to top" button on all the RBCiv pages but there
are more where that came from. Who has the looks, who looks the most menacing
in a tin can out of all the 16 leaders? Alexander
and Caesar both look like they couldn't carry out their buff - Twins?. Lincoln
looks like he's on a hunger strike, and Gandhi... well you know, you are not suppose
to hit anyone with their glasses still on. I don't know what Czarina's problem
is but she looks like she can't wait to get out of her suit, while Elizabeth looks
like a rich kid role playing in a weekend paintball tourney. I would have picked
Tokugawa, he has got the most vicious, definitely not someone you would want to
tick off look - constipation does have its own merit. My vote goes to Cleopatra,
hands down! If you have ever experienced a woman's wrath, you know you are dead
meat just from that look.

Why
stop there. What about the advisors? Do they need career counciling, are they
in the wrong occupation? IMO, our dear military advisor look alot like a used
car (camel) salesman when he's not suited up...

That's
all for now, now that I have managed to insult every great leaders in history
;p KoP
