Opening Date: Monday, October 2
Duration: Four Weeks
Game Speed: Normal
Difficulty:
Prince
Civilization: France
Leader: Napoleon
Map Size: Large
Map Script: Lakes
Rules: Aggressive AIs, No Barbarians
Victory: Any
This
is the next in our series of Gentle Adventures. The AI opponents
will likely provide much rougher competition than a typical Gentle
Adventure, but the absence of Barbarians should allow you to focus
on any threats they pose and concentrate on defending yourself as
required.
Also,
though the map size is Large, this being a Lakes map will mean it
will have about the same load on computers as a standard-sized Pangaea
or Archipelago map, so that should be welcome news for those of
you with older machines.
Don't
ever let it be said that the Gentle Adventures get the table scraps.
This is a top flight scenario here!
Scenario:
You
rule over a fledging French nation that starts along the north shore
of your world's largest body of water. Your goal is to control every
drop of that water. The sea is yours by right, and you will take
it if you must.
Scoring:
10
pts - Culturally control every plot of water belonging to the great
sea along which you start.
5 pts
- Obtain (any kind) of victory in the game.
1 pts
- EACH river that empties in to the great sea, culturally control
every tile of Fresh Water adjacent to it.
BONUS:
3 pts - To the player who posts the earliest date of controlling
the great sea.
BONUS: 2 pts - EACH river, the player who posts the earliest date
of controlling that entire river.
Scoring
Exclusion:
You
are -NOT ELIGIBLE- for scoring in this event if you have ever won
a game (solo or SG team) on Emperor or above. You are still welcome
to play unscored, though. This could well be one of those "wish
I had played that game" events come reporting day!
Reporting:
If
you are eligible for scoring, you will need to document your water
control dates (via screenshots, or via saved games to be produced
only if we request them) to receive your fastest control bonus points.
Strategy:
Since
the barbarians are turned off, you will be free to send out unescorted
settlers and workers, and do other things you cannot do in a normal
game. However, since the AIs are set to Aggressive, you will be
in even greater danger than normal of being sneak attacked or declared
upon. Striking the right balance between rapid expansion and self-defense
or even aggression vs neighbors will be important to your success.
Closing
Day: Monday, October 30. Reports due by Oct 31.
