Beyond the Sword v3.13
Scenario:
Historians often refer to the 17th century as the "Dutch Golden
Age", a period in which the tiny republic saw a tremendous
cultural and scientific outpouring. This was the era of the great
scientists Christiaan Huygens and Anton van Leeuwenhoek, as well
as master artists Rembrandt and Ruben. For this Gentle Adventure,
you are tasked with reviving the glory of the Dutch Masters of yore.
Scoring:
This event has custom scoring. SCORING IS OPTIONAL. You are not
required to track your scoring if you prefer not to do so. If you
want to be scored, you need to document (via screenshot or saved
games, preferably both) all items that you claim for score, in case
we call on you to verify any of your claims.
The
scoring for this game is quite simple. On the 1900AD turn, take
a screenshot of the total science and cultural output of your civilization.
This information is displayed at the top-left corner of the screen:
These
numbers represent the total number of beakers and culture that your
civilization is producing each turn. Add them together and that
is your score. (In the above example, the score would be 296.) You
are welcome to assign specialists, build Research/Culture, trigger
a Golden Age, or do anything else that would temporarily increase
your numbers. Plan your strategy accordingly!
If
you win the game before 1900AD, you are also free to submit the
screenshot from your final turn before victory, if desired.
Results:
Everyone is encouraged to play and submit their results. However,
since this is a Gentle Adventure, there will be two separate lists
of results: the normal category, and a special veteran category
for our expert players. This way, newcomers shouldn't worry about
their results being overshadowed by our talented vets.
Closing
Day: Monday, April 28. Reports due by the end of April 29, your
local time.
