SCENARIO
CONCEPT:
Speed builder challenge! Always Peace is enabled, so it's a pure
builder race to a space or diplomatic victory. This is a snack-size
game to provide a break from or alternative to Pax Americana, in
a revisit to Civ 3 Epic 24.
SPECIAL
SETUP: All civs enjoy a permanent Golden Age!
VARIANT
RULE: You may not build or acquire cities on another continent.
(Each of the four civs has its own island.)
SCORING:
By fastest victory in each category, space or diplomacy.
(Apostolic
Palace diplomacy in a separate category. Players are encouraged
to experience a whole game rather than an early AP exit, but it's
there if you really want.)
NOTES:
Don't
be scared by the Emperor difficulty setting. The AI doesn't understand
Always Peace and No Barbarians and will waste effort on military.
No
Tech Trading is on. We haven't used this option for quite a while,
but it's a good fit here. With trading enabled, the race to fastest
finish becomes one of cultivating AIs to research and feed you technology.
Without trading, it's a pure builder challenge.
The
Golden Age setup was done by changing the game-speed length modifier
and making the Palace launch a Golden Age (like the Taj Mahal.)
This needed the sponsor to settle the capital and play the first
turn to allow the AIs to settle. From there, the save can be loaded
and played with the permanent Golden Age without needing a game
mod.
Closing
Day: Monday, February 16. Reports due Feb. 16 ot 17th.
