The
most popular event from the annals of RBCiv history is back with
a vengeance!
You
MUST sign up in the signup
thread to play Epic Eight!
Sponsor:
Sirian
Opening Date: Monday, August 28
Duration: Five Weeks
Difficulty:
Monarch
Civilization: RANDOM
World Size: Standard
Opponents: Seven
Terrain: Pangaea, Natural Shoreline
Climate: Temperate
Rules: Standard
Victory: Any
Version: Core Game v161
Variant
Rules: You may not declare war on any rival prior to 1000BC.
Scenario
Goals: Play the hand you are dealt.
Scoring:
None.
Special
Rules: You MUST sign up in this thread to participate in this
Epic. Why? Because you're going to have your civ assigned to you
at random (by actual physical dice rolls) from these eight possible
selections:
Every
civ will start in the same place in each player's game, but the
civ that you play will be randomly assigned. I don't know who is
going to sign up or in what order, and nobody is going to know which
civs one another is playing. We're all playing the same map, though,
with the civs in the same places, so that should make the discussions
interesting when report time comes around.
To
sign up, reply in the stickied
signup thread on the forum. ANY reply in that thread counts
as a signup, so reserve your questions for the Info
thread and please limit your signups to one per player.
Thank
you.
To
qualify, you must have a valid email address to which your start
file may be sent directly by Griselda. If you wish the file to be
sent somewhere other than to the email account you used to register
to our forum, or if you have turned off receiving emails, you will
need to supply, openly or in private, an address at which you can
receive your start file. Files will -ONLY- be delivered by email,
so comply or sit this one out.
If
you need your save file sent to an email address that's different
than your registered address, please put a note in your post letting
Griselda know. You can put the correct email in your post, or send
it to her by a Private Message, but if there's not a note in your
signup post asking her to check for an alternate email, there's
a good chance that it will get sent to the wrong address. If you
do not receive your file on opening day, or within 24 hours of signing
up if you register late, please check in with Griselda by Private
Message to ensure that your file was sent to the right location.
We
encourage all our community members to jump in on Potluck. Whether
you are the Gentle Adventure type, the Extreme Adventure type, or
anything in between, this is the giant RBCiv melting pot. Don't
be left out of the dance!
Signups
will remain open until Monday, September 18, which is three weeks
after the event begins, with two weeks left to go. If you haven't
signed up by then, you'll miss your chance.
Special
Reporting Procedures:
On Closing Day, Sirian will sticky a thread for each civ in the
report forum. You are requested to post a reply in the thread (for
the civ that you were assigned) that links to your report.
* If
your report is hosted on your own webspace, you do not need to create
the usual report thread linking to it. Discussion will be held per-civ
instead of per-report as is typical. This may get hectic for those
who do not have full threading turned on in their forum settings,
but we're going to give it a try anyway.
* If you are posting your report in text-and-pictures directly to
our boards, you will need your own thread for that, so operate as
normal except adding your link to the sticky thread belonging to
your civ assignment.
* Replies are NOT to be posted in the report threads, which will
be Closed once complete. All discussion should be held in the stickies.
REMEMBER:
No spoilers! You will not know which civ you are playing until
you receive your start file by email. Anybody who reveals the civ
they've received, directly or indirectly, prior to Closing Day,
will be disqualified!
Don't be the one who goes there. M'kay?
Closing
Day: Monday, October 2. Reports due by Oct 3.
