Scenario
Concept: You are the daughter of the sun god, Ra. Your mother was a mortal,
a kind-hearted chambermaid. Your father has chosen a destiny for you: to serve
as his demigoddess Pharaoh on another of his worlds. Your role is to lead your
people to glory against the teeming masses of the other civilizations. Only full
domination will suffice, in the form of military conquest, territorial domination,
or cultural supremacy. Will your divine heritage show through? Or will your mortal
weakness lay you low before your father's uncompromising expectations? Your destiny
awaits! Variant
Rules: None Scoring: Cultural
victories ranked by number of cities you attack. The fewer cities you attack,
the higher you rank. Any attack on any enemy city counts toward this aspect. Phony
wars or defensive wars do not. Retaking cities you lose to enemy attacks or cultural
flips also do not count. Manipulating allies to attack for you also not counted.
Each city your forces attack directly, though -- including starvation sieges --
lowers your score. Domination
victories ranked by degree of honorable play. Zero dastardly acts score highest,
ties broken by fastest finish. Each additional dastardly act lowers your score. Conquest
victories ranked by degree of ruthlessness. Your goal is to raze the enemy cities
and enslave their populations. Each city you capture rather than raze lowers your
score. Recapturing your own cities if lost in war or to a flip does not count.
Those who raze ALL enemy cities will score the highest, ties broken by fastest
finish. Each additional city captured rather than razed lowers your score. Defeats
ranked by game score. All
players required to track their scoring aspects in order to be ranked. Please
record your number of cities attacked, number of dastardly acts, and number of
cities captured rather than razed. Please record all three, in case you have to
change goals during the game. A final comparison may be interesting to see, across
the different victory conditions. Keeping notes on paper is recommended, but text
file notes are also viable. Strategy:
Due to incompatibilities within the different scoring measurements, you may want
to select your preferred victory goal at the outset and dedicate your all to pursuing
it. If you have to switch goals in the middle of the game, your score will suffer,
but that still beats losing. WARNING: due to the high numbers of enemy
starting units, expect early and stiff barbarian activity. Yeah, this may be Monarch,
but it's no cakewalk. Closing
Day: Monday, June 9. Reports due on June 9 or 10.
