[SPOILERS] PBEM7 Lurker Discussion Thread - No Players!

SleepingMoogle Wrote:I don't think TT and me can brute-force our way towards Silarus River. Instead, I'm considering a little Sirian doctrine and drop a bunch of forces behind the front lines. Optics research just came in, and a bunch of Caravels will be queued up soon. 4-move Caravels should be able to outmanouver the Indian navy. Right now, I have two stacks (one mixed cats/melee, one mixed melee/mounted) brandishing weapons near the Indian border to keep Serdoa on his toes. The first stack is near the eastern sea coast. The idea is for my Triremes to clear a path and allow and let the stack to hop aboard a bunch of Caravels, drop near his capital, and raze it before he can recall his forces there. Whether or not that will work remains to be seen, but it definitely feels more likely to succeed than marching on a culture bombed Silarus River.

yikes

SleepingMoogle Wrote:I have it, but haven't gotten around to playing it. I'll do my best to get it done tonight, apologies for the holdup.
Serdoa Wrote:Might I ask if this is again for diplo-reasons? Because to be honest I am getting tired of waiting 2 days for that.
I would like to propose another rule for our game: No holding back the save for diplo-reasons for more then 24 hours and at most once per month.
SleepingMoogle Wrote:Yes and no. I will play and forward the turn tonight though, regardless of what happens.
As for the proposition, I understand why it is being made but will have to disagree. Playing one or more turns a day is great, but as soon as mismatching activity schedules start to delay back and forth messaging, it can easily fail to keep up with the pace.
Case in point, unless someone responds in the window of free time I currently have available, I will have to wait until at least the next day to handle the message. Implementing the rule would effectively make urgent matters a practical impossibility for me.
I don't think these guys are going to be in a hurry to play a game together anytime soon. frown

No kidding- it sounds like the reason Moogle is even holding the save is because TT got pissed at yet another diplo email and now apparently refuses to even talk to his ally.

TT should grow up and shift some thickness from his skull to his skin, and Moogle ought to cease holding up the game for the sake of a couple HA he might have to throw away.

Serdoa Wrote:Well, he moved his army one tile east. Probably a trap. [...] I am sure SleepingMoogles other troops are near and I will probably lose all of my Knights but I simply do not care
anymore.

SleepingMoogle Wrote:Serdoa's stack is on the tile marked X, since that's the only tile he could hit me from that I don't have visibility on. I can hit the tile with my mounted units, but it will probably cost me a HA just to find out if that is a good idea or not. I want to know where Serdoa's slow movers are. Are they with the stack, pushing to his capital, or still at home and was this a blitz attack to take out my stack?

I'm inclined not to take the gamble by moving to the circled tile as Serdoa can spot it by climbing the nearby hill, and because I can't support the attack with Cats (the few I have left) or other slow movers. But perhaps I can work out some sort of plan with TT.

SleepingMoogle Wrote:I was not about to chance my mounted stack for a sulking ally. I withdrew towards Actium (the Hindu Holy city) where I upgraded most Horse Archers to Knights, and offered Serdoa a white peace on the off-chance he'll accept it.

Sorry TT, but if you're not willing anymore, then neither am I.
I have to run.

I'm trying to come up with a list of players who, if all placed in one game, would result in pages and pages of Epic diplomacy.

So far I have Serdoa and Sandover as definite candidates!

This has been my favorite comment so far that I've found in this thread, but it didn't seem fitting for the post-game thread, so I'm going to take a stab here at putting together the game that would have the most entertaining diplomacy ever. Here we go, in no particular order:

Serdoa
Sandover
Sullla/Speaker
Krill
Exploit (I had to...)
regoarrarr
Athlete

You're telling me you wouldn't lurk this game?? If there will ever be a game to out-pace PB2 in terms of views, it would be that game right there. I know there's probably a couple names I'm forgetting too... I know what I want for Christmas! lol

Don't forget PB himself!

Agh! You're exactly right. He needs to be on there! Unacceptable omission on my part.

The forum software couldn't handle that level of bitchiness.
