I'm mostly concerned about the spoiler implications of lurkers, but posters that only lurk a single thread can't logically come under than purview. Their handling would be best left to the players that make up the team...after all, if there is one poster that is disrupting that team, then the team should be within their rights to ask him or her to stop posting in their thread. But that is a different topic entirely.
Pitboss 2 - Time Out

Hi,
T-hawk Wrote:While I agree with your previous post about us please not adopting Bureaucracy, I also share Pindicator's concern. If I would play such a game against you, and after the game found out lurkers pointed out mistakes or additional options to you, I felt cheated and disappointed. My goal is to beat you, not you and a bunch of other people I only learn about after the game helping you out.Pindicator Wrote:But it seems like we were seeing a lot of things with lurkers posting "Well, what about this scenario?" or "Why not do it this way?" -- which most often with high caliber players isn't going to be a spoiler, but what if it was? What if someone just made a big gaffe or overlooked something simple that just affected the game? Then we go "whoops, oh well, we'll try to be smarter next time" and play on. I would even did not want lurkers to point out mistakes in my plans! If in the end I beat you, the victory wouldn't feel completely satisfactory - did I beat you because my gameplay was better than yours, or would I have maybe lost the game if that lurker didn't point out the error in my plan to complete that wonder in time...? (And yes, we all do believe in small things significantly affecting the chance of winning the game, otherwise we all wouldn't micromanage so much!) This wouldn't matter much if we only played just to kill time, entertain the audience and chat with lurkers, but I know some players have a very competitive approach to this game (which is fine of course). Now I don't participate in these games so my opinion obviously doesn't (and shouldn't) really matter, but I wanted to point out a possible problem with the relaxed approach. -Kylearan

just for reference, since various people are quoting my code of conduct ... this is what I have posted in my Rapoleon_Hi (pb#3) thread ...
Ruff_Hi Wrote:As you saw in the voting thread, I proposed a Lurker's Code of Conduct (LCoC). This suggestion was voted down. So, am I going to have a private LCoC? Yes I am! Is it going to be what was proposed - no way ... why should I limit my lurkers by having a private one when other teams aren't!
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.
