It's not Krill's fault that you Yankees can't spell properly.

Clearly our naming scheme should be British words that are funny in American!
Civilization IV: 21 (Bismarck of Mali), 29 (Mao Zedong of Babylon), 38 (Isabella of China), 45 (Victoria of Sumeria), PB12 (Darius of Sumeria), 56 (Hammurabi of Sumeria), PB16 (Bismarck of Mali), 78 (Augustus of Byzantium), PB56 (Willem of China)

I was joking. That'd probably be too offensive.

Ok, so we have a few things to discuss I think:
1) We found Donovan Zois warrior and borders. Between our capitals are 13 tiles horizontally. So your 1.5 rings seem pretty accurate. As this is toroidal, I expect we have several more neighbours nearby. On that note: I encountered a Borsche-scout close to the hut we popped. I believe that means we should be prepared for early aggression by them. I also think we should try to settle as much land as possible as quickly as possible. Currently I tend towards the two spots in the west with the gold to be early on just to make sure he doesn't even try to settle there. On the other hand though the pig/deer/corn spot in the east is very tempting. I'll draw up an idea where and in which order to settle soon. 2) We popped the hut. It contained: Shall we change tech to Meditation before finishing AH? It does work out turn-wise, as we need 4 more turns for the worker + 1 turn moving to cow, 4 turns pasturing, 1 turn moving to Ivory. That's 10 total. Research Medi takes 6, finishing AH 4. It will of course delay any form of BW and when we see horses, but I believe that would be worth it, if we get the religion. Which the chance for is higher now than later obviously. Thoughts? (Btw: I have changed tech for now to Medi but haven't ended turn.) 3) Back to map. Borsche is Vikings. The sea next to our capital has at least 29 tiles. So ships should be buildable, we need to watch out for those 3-movers. I've done some nasty things with them in the past.
Btw reg. 2) The downside of religion now is that it won't be founded in the second city. That's not the best play certainly. Not having one at all might be worse though and I expect that several players count on founding it in their second city. With us finishing it EOT19 I doubt anyone has a second city by then.
I was definitely thinking we should go for Poly in the second city. We would probably get Med for sure right now but we'd have to either build a monument in the second city or hope for a spread, neither of which is particularly appealing. I don't think we'll be struggling for a religion long term that much that we need to give up our shot at the second city border pop to get it.
I think going for Poly in the second city is the better idea. If we fail we can get Mono reasonably soon without a big cost because we'll want Masonry anyway. So right now I'm in favor of continuing with AH and then going onto BW as planned.

Ok, changed back to AH. I see your point, though with 23 players I expect that religions won't be as easy to acquire. Though we certainly have a bonus now with 2 techs from huts.
I think we should think about how to line getting religion and founding up as best as possible though and also which site to take. Obviously one that needs a border pop would make sense - but if we miss the religion it would become a very slow city.
A few more thoughts...
The map is a bit more cramped than I thought it would be, so a strong opening is even more important. A holy city in our second or third city in the west can help a lot in a potential defense, while I'm not sure we can invest resources into spreading religion manually. I'll do some sims tonight for religion win or loss scenarios.
