Looks like Charriu still has plenty to learn about war:

Whatever he's doing with the galleys has got to be a minor benefit compared to if he'd denied RFS the warning he needs to reinforce...

Edit: Oh, perhaps nevermind on this. It looks like maybe RFS won't actually have time, the troops are closer than he thought.

Charriu can actually finish off RFS now, if he wants it. That was a pretty nasty defeat.

I really want to ask him:

Didn't you just kill the bulk of his army? He had 6 cities, you've taken lighthouse, Utopia is easily razed. Leaves 4, and you can outproduce him? You could get a second core? If you go for peace what's from stopping him from building up and attacking Lighthouse when you move your units elsewhere? What other value could you get out of the army you have than that?

But I think it goes too far for a lurking comment? It's driving me a bit crazy to see opportunity wasted because someone is being too cautious. (says one of the more aggressive players...)

His reasoning for pulling out is not wrong though. He lost swords, 3 against RFS and 2 against Couers, he needs to replace and heal and in those turns RFS will whip all his cities twice.

Turns out that when land is junk, capturing it isn't that profitable.

Yeah, the ratio of warring to wonderbuilding seems exactly inversely proportional to the quality of land. Who knew!

Right but the capital city land isn't junk. And not taking out Utopia quickly allows him to get a whip off in Utopia as well.

He has taken Utopia now, though I would have thought razing would have been more in line.

More to the point, how? It was his city.
