I really doubt Parkin is expecting anything less than a 3v1. And really, of those, I would say Gakor, plako and Luddite seem like the most obvious to hit him.
Besides, if he gets to Infantry, it won't matter if LP knows or not. Ditto Machine Guns but at least then there's pillage.

Yeah, if they had used diplo in a similar way to how they say LP has used it they could have played him at his own game - this would have been smarter than making him expect a dog pile.
At least the game isn't seemingly over, there still seems everything to play for.
Btw, is becoming a vassal state allowed?

WilliamLP Wrote:I'll certainly give LP this: In one of his first posts he made a long argument about why Ind is a very undervalued trait here. I think he was onto something! It seems like getting Stonehenge, and then MoM / Taj, and then the religious trio, and then eventually SoL gives a pretty strong position!
The Wonders are strong, not IND. IND is saving him hammers on the wonders, and giving him a quicker build time. If he were behind techwise, he wouldn't be getting the wonders. Or to put it another way, if LP weren't teching fast because he has been able to ignore military techs and hasn't ever had to build an army, he'd have lost several wonders and wouldn't be in this position.

Is it really such a smart idea to cancel OBs like that? It seems a bit rash and will alert them to more than just plako/Luddite/Gakor being involved. And I doubt it'll hurt LP anyway. If anything it'll make him just check out military more.

They should definitely embargo mackoti too if they're going through with this embargo. It's going to be a 4v2 anyway.
Although since mackoti has all of nine cities (I was really surprised how few he has), it wouldn't actually do anything. So I guess not.

While I'm sure setting up a separate message board to co-ordinate a dogpile is great from a logistical perspective, I'm just a bit worried that it might cause a bit of an echo chamber effect and dogpilers will latch onto grievances.
Then again, that could be exactly what you need to maintain solidarity. Though it could ruin the mood a bit.

I've had many awesomely fun games that I played to a loss, because I valued loyalty to my allies ahead of throwing everything away for a vague shot at victory. Apparently some folks would rather throw loyalty out of the window as soon as it doesn't suit them, though. A shame to see.
Except for when, you know, you promise someone Ivory and give them Gems instead because you don't want them having an advantage on a wonder you would both like.

Yeah it's this kind of hypocracy which really makes my jaw ache, and frankly makes me wonder why people start complaining when it's voiced that LP might not be the best winner of this game.

Well, I think most players do try to find ways around agreements they don't want any longer and I am pretty sure that all of them still tell stuff like "I stick always to my agreements". I advise reading PBEM17 for some insight into hypocrisy...
Oh, and I think if LP wins he has fully deserved it. It is his diplomacy which made him practically immune to war for nearly 200 turns and it is his skill in building up an empire which does get him to the point he is now. It is not undeserved, he simply played a better overall game then others who might outshine him in parts of the game but who could not put it all together in the way he did.
