Compromise on the leader pick: we run a normal snake pick (5 leaders, 5 civs), and we ban those, randomize the pick order again, then pick for real.
What is a snake pick?
Not that the leader pick thing matters much at all to me. I don't remember much about most of them and their benefits and faults anyway. So most of the civ/leader picking duties will have to fall on LP and the other teammates.

Are you a long time lurker?
Too afraid to play a game due to doubting your own ability?
Consider yourself a 'Green'?
Team Mack7 are looking for you!
My captains are repetitive old farts that always do the same boring thing. We're looking for some fresh ideas. Don't be afraid, step on up and join! Your voice will hold the same weight as anyone elses.

Be nice Kyan!
HitAnyKey, it goes like this:
1) Roll a random picking order
2) Player 1 picks a leader OR civ
3) Player 2 picks leader OR civ
...
4) Player 5 picks both a leader AND a civ
5) Player 4 picks whatever he hasn't picked yet
...
6) Player 1 picks whatever he hasn't picked yet, as the last player

How about creating the subforum now, so each team can start discussing settings amongst themselves? I assume it will be 1 vote per team. Can easily close subforums afterwards, if that is decided on.

I like this - simple and effective. There's a lot of strong choices that just barely miss the usual cut because it's a necessity to take the Pacals and Incas if they are there. I just don't want choices heavily restricted and I don't want our choices to be decided for us. Narrowing down choices and making strategic picks is part of the fun of working together as a team.
Also, we should probably do some sort of official vote on the open/closed forum thing. From scanning the thread very briefly, I see this:
Closed - 3v: scooter, novice, oledavy
Open - 1v: Ichabod
(again, closed has no actual restrictions on joining, it just requires you actually join the group(s) you want to follow)
Few other people talked about the topic but didn't explicitly state their preference. Vote away, I'll try to keep a tally. Alternatively, we could just have the team captains vote.
Edit: crossposted with half of RB
