I'm not really sure which number to use with all the proposals being tossed around lately

There has been a lot of positive feedback to a proposal scooter gave for a new pitboss game, so we're moving discussion to its own thread. Below is a rewording of the original proposal

1) 5 team Pitboss with fairly standard settings and balanced map

2) Each team will be led by one "team captain". Team captain is not necessarily in charge of turn playing or anything like that, but rather is in charge of recruiting people to join and organize the team

3) Team captains should be reasonably experienced and able to either A) play turns themselves or B) have a turn player sign up on their team. Teams without a primary turn player are not ok. I'd define "reasonably experienced" as having completed a non-greens game at some point and been at least somewhat competitive.

4) No teams of people that are thrown together by default. Throwing all the "extras" on a team together is bad. Much better for those to just pick a team that's small, join them, and try to contribute.

5) Same deal with greens. A "green team" could be heavily imbalancing; however, greens can easily fit right in as part of a team with more experienced players. It's a great way to learn actually.

6) I tend to think we should give diplomacy another shot here, as it increases the number of roles available.

Maybe add # of civs per team to the list of settings TBD. (My preference is 1.) This way we can lure in everybody and let the majority dictate the settings.

I prefer ancient era start and only one civ per team.

I will likely participate in this to some extent, but probably not as a captain - I'm just in too many games for that.

We probably should focus on getting 5 captains nailed down.

Fuck it. I'll captain, but I'm 100% not going to be doing any turn player duties or turn reporting or diplo. And if anyone actually wants to join my team, well, don't expect me to tell you what to do either, you can think for yourselves.
