LURKER THREAD- No Players

I could not post for a while, as I was vacation replacing the Khmer player in what turned out to be an euthanasia mission, but I want to take up the pic of the day series again.

I'll report from the Khmer downfall some time, but  right now I found this one even more interesting.

Donovan isn't reporting, but here is his inevitable war with Australian Genghis flaming up again. From the report I get that one of those visible trireme stacks contains another 7. Apparently Donovan pulled his northern fleet into this theatre, giving him an upper hand temporarily - ultimately he seems doomed, unless he has some ace up his sleeve yet. The main problem, besides the tiny islands and Genghis getting all of Australia uncontested, is that Genghis can blockade away all his trade routes to the rest of the world, when he really needs commerce to get to those crucial naval techs.
Genghis already has Optics, and as you see is preparing the Astro bulb. Donovan's one hope of at least temporary relief is Indonesian Zara, who tops world food and will have Astro even earlier apparently. But he seems to be a very builderish player type, and is also worrying about the Vikings who are dominating China, Indochina and soon India.

Btw I found as well that pics linked directly from the civforum posts don't show here to everybody, while I can see them. The reason seems to be the protected report subforum, which seems to make images unaccessible also for showing here if you're not logged in there. I've passed to just download them and upload on imgur.

Finally, if you enjoy some tech thread drama, there's some grade A material from the last couple days, although I'm not sure all of it is translatable. (more seriously, thumbsup to LotC for handling it)

Thanks Miguelito. Its interesting that most players were placed close together and yet they put 1 person in Australia. I mean I know the land isn't great, but guaranteed 10-11 cities with no land tension sounds kind of silly in comparison to others on this map.

In other news SD take over of Stalin:
Lots of power, built up tensions with neighbors, broken economy. Perfect fit neenerneener

lazy pic of the day - the last turn of the Khmer:

I'll try to find the time to write some context.

battle superjm vs Sven as expressed by their power graphs:

This is what superjm still has left after losing half his power.

That battle must have been apocalyptic.

btw, does abstaining have a different effect to voting no? Are those votes not counted towards the total or something?
Reply

I think abstain is the same as No in this instance because it is a yes/no vote. Abstaining would be meaningful in a vote where you vote between two people. There may also be a difference in AI diplomacy modifiers if you vote abstain compared to no, not sure about that one.

Btw, the war in question is the civil war between Augustus and Caesar in South and Middle Africa respectively.

Pope and builder of the Apostolic Palace is Frozen as Isabella sitting at the North African coast. He is basically roleplaying Isabella having founded 5 religions. With his shrine he is gaining money at 100% research and is the overall tech leader but he lacks land.

Hogging 5 religions is especially evil on deity.
