Scout NE, with a view to N-NW next turn? I think NE-NE is a coast, we can get some nice visibility, and it doesn't look like the hill to our N will give anything that we wouldn't see anyway.
Also, bored.

To fight boredom, I looked at tech discoveries in civstats:
NB Ottomans, Sumeria, Babylon and Mali all settled on T1. Mali on T2, actually. T7 Zulu — Fishing T8 England — Mysticism, Ottomans — Fishing, Sian — Mysticism? Something more expensive with bonus? T9 Sumeria — Mining or Mysticism, should have looked at soldier count, even with an in-capital bonus can't be AH or Pottery. Nobody should have built a warrior, right? Mongolia — ehhh, he is not financial, so this can't be Agri or anything more expensive, he settled on T0, so he would have had Mining or Mysticism already. Tech change before completion? T10 Mali — Agriculture, barring strange half-way changes in tech. Forgot the T2 settlement. But surely not Mysticism for Exp/Cre? China, Babylon, Egypt — all researching BW or AH. I looked at our demos that we posted, and we can actually see that between T8 and T10 somebody invented a military tech, rival average went from 4000 to 4222. So either Mongolia or Sumeria did invent Mining. For ease of future estimation, here is the spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?...sp=sharing
I don't think there's anybody reading our spam, but nonetheless, here is a teaser update. Gavagai took the turn, but I'm not sure whether he will post pictures, so just some morsels for now:
We have a riverside grass cow in our northern floodplains city, which has a total of 7 floodplains. China researched a 2000 soldier tech, this is AH and they have some sort of riverside resource giving them a coin. The Zulu are now Rival Worst Soldiers with 2000. Quote:We have a riverside grass cow in our northern floodplains city, which has a total of 7 floodplains. I'm pretty sure it's not "we" who have this cow. I don't believe that we have so much land for oureselves. There definitely should be another civ in the north.
Gavagai let me do the honours, so here goes...
Our Nameless Hero [cover name: Scout] explored the headwaters of the river, and very nice they are too: On the screenie you can see we are still plowing ahead towards Meditation, and China's new shiny tech is there too. Nothing new in the capital, so no city shot, we will grow in 2, working full commerce in the meantime. Here are the demos, where we are the expected leaders in crop yield and commerce. We are still the only civ working an improved tile, so huzzah. Won't last. And something special for the keener cloak and dagger readers out there, the top 5 cities, led, fishermen aside, by the Creative Mali, not the as Creative Egypt or Ottomans, so Slowcheetah is probably working a higher hammer yield tile or something. Or maybe he is rewarded for building a Trooper. I really just posted this for the sake of looking at something where we are first, while we still can. But really glad to have you with us, and hopefully we are not making too much of a stinker with our first outing. Thanks for the map!
@Gavagai: On scouting, rather than going onto the alluring plains hill to our NW, I would probably go NE onto the desert hill, with a view to N-NW onto the forest, and then W-W onto the hill NW of the plains hill. This is mostly because I really don't know which bit of this enormous north we should explore next, and I would like as wide a view of the surroundings as possible. Also, if your theory about the nearby civ is right, we don't want to miss it.
