[no players] Warsighs of the Newb: An Experiment in Lurking.

Blaaah. Fine.

Kuro could at least camp the deer now.

TBH, the reasons why the GLH is not a good idea should be fairly apparent to most players: it requries you spam cities to make it viable: Kuro, no matter how he played that start out, has little choice but to rush Arabia if he wants to stay relevant long term. He had to get scrape just enough beakers together to get the necessary tech to slave out a huge army and go wreck people, and GLH isn't really isn't helpful in that unless he wants to head to cats as opposed to HA.

If he had wanted HA to go kill people, a good tech path would have been something like Agri>Hunting>BW (or potentially even Hunting>BW>Agri) and then onto Pottery, AH, Archery and ABR in some order. Aim is to get HBR researched just when every city has come off whip unhappy cool dawn and has grown to 1 over the happy cap. And he slaves everything into the ground for 15 HA, which is fairly trivial as he could easily have 6 cities by the time he finished 5 techs. If he had gone hard core mode and gotten 25 HA out by T70...yeah, I think he would win that war.

I think going for a wonder when you are Joao is the mistake. Just expand. Don't sink those hammers into a chance.

Yes Kuro, libraries are very important if your science slider is low.

Yep. Joao should build the "huge pile of workers and settlers" Wonder. It's what he's good at. smile

Poor Kuro.

Because any time that you're sitting in last in most Demographics categories, the logical response is a deep Theology beeline.

Game's going surprisingly well for a greens game. Only one drop-out (teleh) and one thread-suicide (Sisu). Though I expect Oxy to ragequit if he gets praet rushed.

I think the key problem with Kuro's play is that he's chasing gimmicky toys instead of chasing after having the best most badass empire he can muster.

I wonder if Noble has looked at the sim and figured anything out.

Testing a few different approaches. I'm mostly getting reminded of how much it sucks to not have 2/3 of the prime techs in a setting with heavy tech costs.
