Zak did evacuate Oman, just some archery units left. Makes sense since he had no chance of pushing on to the next city, and my culture and blockades make Oman a useless drain on his economy. He got what he wanted, which was to slow me down.
Anyway my triremes are making sure he doesn't change his mind about Oman, while I'm bringing up macemen to the front.
I'll probably try to build in peace for a while, I have many cities with a lot of vertical potential left unrealized. In the east the blockade wars are continuing, I seem to have the upper hand temporarily, I have 11 triremes there at the moment. The aim is to keep both of Boldly's quarry cities blockaded, denying Boldly the resources and a lot of workable colossus coast, and rendering the quarry cities pure money drains.
I think I'll tech Monarchy, Guilds and Banking. I'll need knights if I'm going to try and attack Boldly over land, he just got Machinery too. And Mercantilism fits well with always war and representation. I'm debating picking up Philosophy as a 1-turn tech on the way (I'm currently picking up Mysticism->Buddhism->Priesthood), since I have no religion. I expect Zak to go for Liberalism and Nationhood, so Taoism will not stay unclaimed forever.
What do the lurkers think, is it worth getting the expensive Philosophy tech just for a religion? I think I'll do it if I can 1-turn it.
I have to run.

I've done well with Taoism before.

I finally recaptured Ball. The city had a CG1 longbow, a CG2 archer, and a CG1 archer. I attacked with a CR1 catapult at 8% odds and did decent damage to the longbow and archers. Then I had 80-90% odds with two macemen, one of whom died, unfortunately. Cleaned up with a sword and a phalanx.
The city's courthouse and forge are still intact, yay.
In the southeast I killed one of Boldly's triremes which had wandered off, losing one of my own. His other three triremes there are retreating from my stack of 6 triremes and a galley. In the northeast we have a standoff with about 5 triremes each outside his marble city. I'm blockading, so Boldly will need more ships if he wants to break the blockade.
In the south central sea Boldly has three triremes that have been blockading Byte forever. I sent my fleet there through the fort to deal with Zakalwe's incursion on north island. This means Byte hasn't been working its fish, which Boldly repillaged this turn.
I didn't have enough gold to 1-turn Philosophy, so I teched Priesthood this turn and can 1-turn Philosophy next turn.
I have to run.

Zak bombed Comoros with his Great Artist. He didn't quite capture control of the key tiles (my canal fort and the fish) but he probably will through continued cultural pressure. I'm very happy though that he burned his artist on a defensive move like that. I assume the artist was from Music.
Also I got Dazed's graphs again, and I founded Taoism in my southern border city towards Boldly, and in the northeast Boldly has 8 boats that can attack my 5 blockading triremes.
I have to run.

We're not? Normally we live 1500km apart and it's less of an issue...
On t107 I offered Zak a NAP by moving all my central units towards BGN and declining to snipe two workers. I 1-turned Monarchy so I can hook wines. Feudalism and Guilds next. BGN got calendar. I think he's ahead of me in total breakers, btw.
In the east I have 6 triremes bracing for an attack from 9 boats. In the south central sea I'm trying to break BGN's blockade, and then I might boat him.
You can probably read about the battle results in BGN's thread.
I have to run.

It appears Zak decided the price of a NAP was 1 empty galley which I had left in my undefended canal fort. He killed it, but evacuated the fort the next turn. I think a NAP benefits him more than me, but whatever. His economy is better than mine, and he can concentrate on Dazed whereas I have to reign in Boldly.
My land and central sea forces are congregating on Boldy's southern front, and a big naval battle is waiting to happen on my northern front. My lack of planning means my buildup should come as little surprise and my tactics and logistics are rather clumsy. So I doubt I'll achieve anything except maybe force some whips, upgrades, and general non-economic stuff.
I'll be able to pop a Golden Age in 3 turns and I think I can have Banking by the end of that Golden Age. Maybe I'll need to delay the GA by a couple of turns. I want to end the Golden Age in Mercantilism and OR. Actually, thinking about it I don't have Monotheism but I do have Philosophy. So I guess I'll run Taoism and Pacifism during the golden age and revolt to Mercantilism and OR at the end of it. I have monasteries in my holy city and in my capital now, so I can send my first missionaries to the cities that would benefit from Pacifism.
I have to run.
