Guild halls

Guild Announcement, it works, despite your perceived failures.

Lurker Wyrm Wrote:The forums have been and probably always will be our primary form of communication across the guild

No, that will always be guild chat. That is primary, which means DIRECT--thus guild announcements. Fora is tertiary, indirect. When you want something done in-game, it'll be through guild chat, as fora won't be checked until who knows when.

I sat with it and I still can't see the merit in what you have proposed. As far as I am concerned, the forum will always be the main and official form of communications of any guild-wide events. Note Guild-wide here does not mean whoever happens to be in game at a given time.

Frankly, I don't understand your grievance. You didn't have a problem when you guys wanted to change our cape color for the Halloween and Wintersday event. You were one of those pushing for it to be changed On-The-Spot. I mean, the hall change propsal was posted for weeks; and the change in place is only TEMPORARY just like the cape color change.

I am willing to be shown what you proposed can work better then using the forum [Image: wink.gif]

There's a problem with guild chat for making guild decisions: It depends on who's on at the time. That's where the forum becomes useful. People can come and go as they please and get the message when they're around - Not just as pot luck if they happen to be logged into the game when the decisions are being made. You're right in saying not all of the guild checks the forum, but then an in-game announcement goes a long way to remedy that and people can be directed to the forum topic to find out what the gossip is.

I'm in favour of trying another one, although I don't have any ideas, myself. Actually, it's quite nice being able to try different ones. Maybe we should get a new hall every week wink

We thank you for volunteering the many thousands of gold coins every week for this noble gesture. 8)

I suggest changing halls every 2 weeks, so that we have more opportunities to try GvG in each layout. I think one outing in a guild hall is too little time to explore their possibilities (I am, of course, being self-centered here - I will only get to GvG in the Meditation hall tonight if we change on the 18th. I'd like at least one more opportunity to do so.).

I propose we change halls on the 25th, and every two weeks thereafter until we've gone through all the halls on the "short list," and can then have an informed vote.

I think changing once a week is fine. If you want more experience on a hall then let me know and we can get together sometime during the week, even if it's 1v1. Granted, it won't be the same, but at least you'll be getting a feel for the hall and what it has to offer.

Meditation is basically a big oval with the bases at either end. Believe it or not, it's one of the more simple guild hall designs. It's also one of the more claustrophobic since there's very little room to manoeuver.
