So far it seems like you're giving mostly free hands to the map maker. I haven't yet started it, but I've given this some thought so in case you want to affect to it please act fast. Here are the most relevant settings and extract from my previous email concerning the map and few new additions:
* Capitals are quite far from each other
* There are enough water to make sea-faring relevant
New settings I'll be using unless overruled by you:
* No wonder bans
* Map size: Large (setting - doesn't tell anything about the real size of the map)
* Everyone starts with a scout
I haven't made up my mind concerning world wrap. I've a feeling that most of you want roughly balanced, but natural (hardest possible compination) so I'd like to make it toroidial that gives most options for balancing, but Cylindrical would do too.
Map relevant settings from Maga:
Start: Ancient
Speed: Normal
Difficulty level: Emperor or Monarch
Barbarian level: Normal
Goody huts: Off
Corporations: On

Hi Haram, what do you mean with "teams cooperate" exactly?

Make stealing as cheap as possible e.g. OB, religion, cultural influence and proximity to capital. You can easily get techs with significantly chaper than researching them. This is pseudo tech trading and forces the game towards tech trading type of alliances. Naturally this becomes effective quite late in the game. Up to you to decide, if you want to ban it or not.

AP victory is only possible if another player votes for you. Surely gifting someone victory and unilaterally ending the game is cheesier than giving someone a city....
What about replaying a save when you realize someone unilaterally ended the game to retroactively give away a city?

Hi, rather busy now, just a brief update:
we have 10 teams now, will close sign ups at midnight today, US Central time.
So far majority wants to see starting positions, so Plako will start to work on the map once sign ups are close.
My understanding is that since we are lucky to have an admin , he will ultimately decide how to deal with rule breaking, although everybody would be welcome to voice their opinions or suggestions.

Plako, that sounds perfect, thanks.
With Haram's vote, there is majority now wanting Emperor difficulty. 10th ten contacted me by PM that they want to join, so please keep that in mind while planning the size. The signups will be closed 10h from now and I will give you the final team count then.
Thank you again for doing the map for us, Plako, and volunteering as an admin! . I was using it heavily in advertising .
EDIT: And yeah, we want it balanced and fair, but not mirrored. In other words, we want to give our mapmaker as much work as possible .

From experience, you do not, under any circumstances, what to play on Toroidal/Emperor.
We don't talk about that game, but it was nicknamed "The Divorcer" for a good reason.

I agree with Krill, and I'd like to officially change our vote to Monarch (as implied earlier), or strongly advocate for a Cylindrical map.

Hmm, most of the players signed up for the game are playing in the Emperor/Toroidal one atm (CFC Intrateam) - no divorces or special casualties yet .
The same Toroidal/Emperor combination is in ISDG 2012 settings:

again, it seems fine?.

OK, with Yossarian' vote changed to Monarch, it is a tie between Emperor and Monarch difficulties, leaving the choice in Plako's competent hands .
