So, you seem to say it's novice here, but looking at the save, you've been fighting Sumeria, which is Serdoa, no?
How do you want to handle things going forward? Do you want to take stay abreast of the game, or do you need to just back away from Civ completely?

I've been fighting both.
I'm happy to keep dedlurking, but I'd be much happier if I were to wake up and not have to worry about playing my turn at all. Things are getting hectic at work. Plus, I'm going travelling in December (which means I need to get a ton of work done before I can feel at ease).

that's fine. Presume I'll play the next turn. You might have to send me the save - we'll see.

So, I take over the civ.
We have 3 cities:
Clearly, we have some work to do. I mean - we don't even have a coherent theme!! These are something called Egyptian names. Will not do.
Note that we are making a settler. I'm going to go with nicolae's plan of putting that up near the copper on the sea, because I don't know enough about the land to find better spots. I am going to fix that, btw.
We seem to have run into bad luck in wars, which sucks when you are egypt and have horses. Nice thing about WC, though, is that they are nearly as good as HA, so the amount of time they are viable is longer than you might think. We can probably continue to expand peacefully and then put the hurting on later. And, honestly, peaceful expansion is totally AWESOME for Pacal. Cheap workers, granaries and financial cottages....
But we'll do some ass-kicking. At least, that is, until we get stomped I'm under no illusions here!
Only Hinduism and Buddhism have gone, so I can maybe get a religion at some point.
Demos:
Not the prettiest picture, though the GNP is nice. Behind on food, slightly back on mfg goods, light on military. Need to make a mil city and kick out some war chariots - that will be city #4, at least for now. I probably won't bother with a rax there.
My tech situation:
I have math, which is good. Going to try to get another worker. I want to get the silver, as well. Gems and silver will be nice.

I've been thinking about a city theme (since that, of course, is the most important thing in the game)
I'm thinking that the right theme is famous hopeless battles, to reflect my general chance of winning this game (which is no reflection on Nicolae - I'd have no chance if I had played this from the beginning
I'm thinking:
The Alamo
Gallipoli
Agincourt
Little Big Horn
But then I stall out.

I suppose I could go wtih Thermopylae, but the greeks won that one.

How exactly was Agincourt a hopeless battle? The English won...

Well, for the French it was. Thinking about it, Dien Bien Phu was bad for the French, too. I
This is a crappy theme, anyway.
Back in teh game - I've been harassing Novice some.
Nothing very interesting... just making him move units around, really.
