But what if your opponent doesn't actually update his/her spoiler thread? mischief lol

There are also cases were players fails to put anything useful in spoiler threads. For example 'Team 1' never posted the "fact" that you cannot win by culture with 3 cities from different civs in PB6. They also talked about their invasion plans only after they did them (win they managed to take 1 team 2 city for example).

They mentioned it iirc.
Erebus in the Balance - a FFH Modmod based around balancing and polishing FFH for streamlined competitive play.

Yeah they did mention those things.

Some players are a bit cautious, e.g. Parkin reported wonders after he had built them in PB6? (or whatever the number was..) That is a kind of pity because obviously it is more interesting for lurkers if players post their plans. Then lurkers have a better chance to evaluate whether the player got lucky/unlucky or are the results due to right/wrong decisions. Following the thinking process is also interesting on its own.

True. frown Though I can understand not wanting plans accidentally leaked by lurkers. It has happened a time or two in the past. wink

Thankfully, it's only happened a few times and AFAIK there hasn't been any Lurker Spoilage in quite a long time. smile

Agreed 100%.

See Krill's awesome PB5 updates for an example of interesting insights into Empire development. wink

Then we all all poorer for the lack of updates. frown

Keeping an up to date Spoiler thread is a lot of work for the player. It takes time and effort.

But it's time an effort well rewarded. Both for the community and for the player.

I've maintained (sort of wink ) a spoiler thread or two. I've found I play my best when updating regularly and posting detailed plans because that forces me to actually articulate my plans and put them down on bit and byte. And that helps me focus my thinking about the task at hand in game, which helps me play a better game.

So I see Spoiler threads as win-win: Lurkers get some entertainment and maybe pick up a trick or two and the player focuses better on his game (and has some extra fun as well. Spoiler threads aren't all work. wink )

YMMV smile

Keeping a good thread helps you stay engaged with the game, play better, and attracts lurkers who will point out your mistakes and answer your questions. Discourse with lurkers and teammates can help improve your gameplay a lot.

That's assuming lurkers actually respond to your spoiler threads in the first place *shifts eyes and whistles nonchalantly*

It also helps to lurk other people's threads so that they get to know you and thus are more likely to read your threads. wink

Oh, likewise. I've only ever done the one (still ongoing), but it's served almost as a primary reference. Not too worried about lurker spoilage; most folks seem to be paying attention to the vets' division anyways. lol
Am very appreciative of the info and tips I have gotten, tho! Is highly awesome.
