I'm not sure why it wasn't obvious that once I had astro it wasn't possible to win a war short of my incompetence.

The first war was straightforward and reasonable to push even if it made me an enemy, that's not really a decision I can fault given the expectation of double bulbing astro to make a window. It was understandable. But fighting into double promoted galleons when I had that much pop stored? Why? When Joey got Astro 15 turns late?

In a slightly less serious tone, I don't think any of you could make Joey paranoid enough to attack me. The guy has knights in position to one move two junk cities and I'm just leaving them empty, every single turn. He has visibility on my cities, he knows I am not in position to attack him.
