Yep, we've waited until after Nakor for 3-4 turns in a row now.

Confirming this. We've waited until after him intentionally for a while just to avoid any issues

T76B: I logged in, declared, dropped units on hill. Reported it.
*turn rolled pretty recently, Nakor hasn't logged in since he finished in the first half of T76
T76A: Nakor will log in, see we're at war. Maybe he whips, maybe he doesn't, but the unit won't appear in time
T76B: We take the city

There may be a bit of an error in those turn numbers scooter. lol

Turn 077

So we logged in to see this:

Another axe on the ivory. That's a worker underneath it btw. So to recap, we have a 25% chance of winning the first shot, in which case we easily hold with 2 units in the city. However, if we lose the first and don't win the second cleanly, he gets a clear shot at retaking at favorable odds. We did some rough calculations and figured our overall chances of holding were about 50%. Lengthy discussion ensued, but... it didn't matter:

Hooray RNG. So that's that. We're not risking a second axe for 48% odds when we can't even keep barring a miracle, so it's time to pack up and go home. So we got a worker for our (pretty small) investment and damaged our closest neighbor. I can live with that. Lucky Nakor. Peace treaty offered:

With the discovery of pig island, no sense in coming at him again anytime soon. Nakor is very much the type to get over things quickly rather than rage-revenge, so we'll see if he follows the usual script.

Well, I ducked in for a screenshot and got a surprise instead

First the screenshot:

Then the surprise:

Where would you put a border city? I'm thinking bite the bullet and put it W-NW of the horse. Or do Cow/Horse and then another on the desert hill by the incense

Tempting to try and grab that wine...

1S of cow and 2E of the flood plain too greedy?

And you were supposed to show a screenshot of the marble area!

Don't forget to go back to the Great Wall build.

Scooter, does the map info change where you want to settle next?  Do we want to reverse the order of settling?  Put the first settler up for the horses and the next one for the pigs?  Reason being, I am starting to wonder if the pig really is on a separate island or if it's instead a peninsula.  If we settle the horse next then we'll be able to scout around the pig a bit before settling it.  Even if we do settle the pig first, it would be smart to try and oncover the fog a little before settling.

Second thing:  we should start looking to get a unit to 10xp.  Our best candidate is a 5xp archer, right?

Third thing:  if we plant the marble city in a spot to pick up the banana as a food source, then marble will be 2nd ring and I think we need to plant the marble city right as we start teching Calendar.  That should be enough time to build a monument, watch borders pop, and then hook up the marble before Calendar finishes.

So I went home at lunch time, logged in, took some screenshots, then forgot to put them in dropbox before I left. /fail

Short story: Nakor took 10T peace.

Yeah Great Wall was a 4T slow build, but 1 pop whipping the Spear and overflowing into Great Wall sped it up by 1 turn, so I did that.

Yeah so when I logged in I already moved the galley with the settler/archer on it thinking that was sealed as a for-sure thing since I sensed no doubts in you we wanted pigs first, so… sorry about that. That said, even if I hadn't, I would definitely be pushing pigs first. If anything, the instant +1c everywhere for IC routes will be a big boon, especially since we really need to speed up our tech pace to get to Calendar. I can see a little more of the island now (again, sorry for lack of screenshots), and there's quite a few tiles/forests there. We can land next turn.

Probably yeah. We have 2 of those. Going to be difficult to level those up though with barbs being axes.

Agreed. I think the borders need to be popped and marble roaded and chops ready to go the turn Calendar gets in. It's going to be tight to get that accomplished, but I think it's doable.
