OK, I've been reluctant to do this, but I think I'm going to have to ask for another player for the Maya team.

RefSteel has been on vacation for the last several days, and continues to be, so I've been doing 95% of the work for the team. I thought it would improve soon, but RefSteel has indicated to me that when he gets back from vacation next week, he will no longer have an internet connection at home, and will barely even be able to even comment on the game going forward, let alone regularly contribute to decision making.

Cull underestimated the time sink a game like this would require, and doesn't really have the time to run the civ. He can play a turn here or there with specific instructions, and provide feedback to suggestions, but otherwisem no...

That leaves me. I signed up to be a dedicated lurker, but have been basically running the team for the last several weeks. Last weekend I had the audacity to leave town for 4 days, so I didn't have 8 hours a day to devote to the diplomacy situation, and had to try to catch up in an hour before work today. Seems I overlooked, or misread an email, and now the end of the world has occurred over it, so screw it.

I can only imagine what it will be like if I try to keep up by myself when I have 4 conventions in 5 weeks starting before memorial day weekend till the weekend before July 4th, and then am also gone for July 4th weekend. I'll probably get about 4 hours of sleep a night at these cons on average... that's IF I'm NOT spending those hours on this game... I can't do it and provide this game anything like the attention it deserves. I'm not even going to try. I KNEW I couldn't, that's why I signed up to be a DEDICATED LURKER.

I can stay involved with the team going forward, and I would like to, but come the middle of May, I can NOT do 90% of the work for this team till at least mid July, so here's the notice that if we can't get someone on board to help me, there is going to be a massive Mayan collapse soon. Considering everyone and their dog is playing this one, I thought we might want to start looking now.

I regret the necessity of having to post this, but thought it best that I do so.

We PM'd Yaz a couple weeks ago about easing into it come May, and he said he feels he is still too spoiled. We have been looking for help quietly behind the sceenes since, preferring to find someone we know, but have come up with zilch. I thought some of my old war gamer buddies might be able to help, but alas, no.

I want to reiterate that I'm not planning to bail on this team, and if the apocalypse happens and no one can be found, the turns will get played... somehow... but expect a rather precipitous drop-off in my already dodgy play if that happens. I'm not the best player here, probably not even in the top half, but I've worked hard on this civ and it means a lot to me, so I really don't want that to happen.

Once the conventions start in earnest in a month, I just can't keep up with diplo, the turn playing AND proper micromanagement alone. I can do SOME of it, but, especially durring the 11 day stretch from May 26th to June 6th where I'm in Atlanta doing panels for TimeGate and then in St. Louis running games for DieCon without being home a single day, things will suffer greatly. Then the 21st-31st of June I'm home for only one night because of running games at QuinCon and then in Columbus OH for 6 days for Origins, and things will again, suffer greatly. Similar problems exist in August for GenCon, and uhh, Spetember for Dragon*Con I would not even log in (or sleep for that matter) for close to a week. (Course, we may have been dogpiled out of existance by then )
