[SPOILERS] Scooticator and Pindooter give a sporting try

Turn 079

Events!

That's a nice use of all that bacon. Also, note that Commodore settled for the horse. Probably 2N of the horse, I'm guessing.
I found Nakor's fifth city; he settled in the south towards Azza. All this uneven food resources is making for some weird settling patterns early on. Well, for everyone not named Lewwyn it is.

I uncovered tiles as best I could with the galley out east. For next turn I would move the galley and the archer before deciding anything wtih the settler. And if we land Great Wall we will be able to scout with that archer even more. (It's still possible this is the same landmass as what we're on...)

Meet the score leaders! I offered a map trade.

Here's what I was thinking for workers: blue and green will do the old 2-step "move-road" as they head towards the iron. Might as well not waste the worker turns because we're going to want a road heading south of the capital towards the marble anyway.

Up north yellow will road towards the horse/cow city. The new worker from the capital will get on a boat. And after the red worker finishes chopping that forest, there should be just enough time to move to the 2nd gem, road it, and chop it, right before borders pop.

I would road the pfh with one worker at the capital and road the plains with the other, rather than roading the grassland which I don't think is very useful. They'll still be able to combine on the iron.

Note that we'll know the answer to this as soon as we plant by if we get IC routes or not. If we don't get them, we're on the same continent. Tentatively that spot looks pretty good. However, of course we want to move the other units first.

Also note: I think we should consider settling for marble with our very next city since we can get horse here instead. Thoughts on that?

I think I generally agree with Noble that a road on the pfh is a little more useful than the grassland. Any specific reason you disagree?

Yeah, skip the horse city and get the horse from the (hopefully) island city. We can get the other horse later.

It's more that I didn't think of roading the pfh until after you mentioned it tongue

At this point, we will waste an extra worker turn, either in a partial road on the grass tile or in just moving both workers to the plains forest hill.

Jumped in and Black Sword took our map swap. I'll try to get screenshots but if they aren't up in the hour then maybe scooter can.

That's dtay in the far west. And if you look close you can see where a city once stood - the copper in the middle of the north is mined and roaded, but somebody didn't defend themselves well enough.

We may not have a coastal route in the south. Which would be annoying.

Took a quick glance in-game. First off, hooray:

That should free us up to build virtually nothing but growth stuff for the next 20 turns. Also we are now oh-so-close to retaking the top of the all-important scoreboard lol. Cris Carter bears good news:

There was indeed a passage, so it can carry on. I guess we may as well declare to get through Black Sword's borders since a circumnav race is at stake here. Let's just take care not to land on any seafood so it's not taken in a hostile manner. As for the eastern side of the map, I moved the galley and archer to maximize tiles unfogged:

I think that's enough info to settle on that tile this turn. Agree/Disagree? Also, we now have spare units:

Any feelings on how to use them? My thought right now is to go farm barbs for XP. I know we have a couple archers at 5xp, but I bet that 4xp axe can get there quicker if we make a concerted effort. Maybe send him down south to the jungle which is likely to be crawling with barbs? I dunno, open to ideas. I didn't do anything other than the two galleys + archer.

Oh, two other stray comments:

1) Looks to me like dtay was the aggressor in a raze of that Black Sword city. Sure looks that way from the roads anyway.
2) Don't know if you noticed, but we do have a hut on our little island. inb4popastronomyjokes

Cool stuff!

I would have moved the archer SE to spot seafood but meh. Might as well SIP. Big question for the galley: do we turn it around to pick up workers or build another galley at the capital?

I liked the suggestion of using our next settler on the marble. If you're still up for that then let's get a unit down there to screen for barbs until we can actually settle. And yes, definitely barb hunt with the 5xp axe.

We should start thinking Great Spy usage. As in who we steal from. Means we want to beeline a little more since it'll be easier to backfill.

Finally: do we share maps with Commodore? Do we reject all map requests from people we've already traded once with (Lewwyn, Azza, Nakor)?

Build another galley at the capital I say. And settle in place. I would only trade maps with Commodore if you think it'll make him attack Black Sword.
