[SPOILERS] Caught in tides of war... yuris125 and Krill - PBEM56

By my count, Worker is indeed faster. AH is 143 beakers. We will produce 9 beakers + 1 pre-req bonus for the first 5 turns, until the border pops, putting 5 food-hammers into Worker. That's Worker at 25/60, and AH at 50/143. Then we switch to the gems, and produce 10+2 beakers and 6 foodhammers. Worker needs 6 more turns to complete, we make 72 beakers in that time - AH at 122/143, still 2 turns away

BW first sounds reasonable with this many forests

Don't forget the free beaker, so it's 8 from palace, 1 from tile, 1 from the aether for 10 base = 12 adjusted/turn=60 for 5 turns. Then 13/turn, need 83 = 7 turns more with overflow.

Well there are 3 different tiles you can move to next turn that make sense with current knowledge, and settle in place.

Otions to move are 9, 3, 23. 9 looks to be coastal, 3 gets plain hill to mine, 23 gets to settle on a plains hill and finish the worker eot T14 (opposed to eot T16) but gives up the gems and is fresh water adjacent (can move scout 3 to check FoW to see if this option makes any sense, no other move gives information relevant to decision needing to be made next turn). Settle in place basically makes more sense if you want to try and rush to AH IMO; the others can actually go for BW first.

I'm going to do some sandboxing and see what works how. Considering move to 3 doesn't delay the Worker, that's probably my preference at the moment. Gut instinct is not to give up the gems, even if it speeds up the Worker by another turn

Yeah, I wouldn't do it normally, but because the scout move can uncover the entire BFC it makes it much easier to figure out if moving 23 is worth doing. I'm a bit iffy about going BW first, but I think it works if the plan is to rush a settler at size 2 with a chop and/or a slave (which depending on the MM could even get second worker before the settler). I think the problem with hooking hte gems early is that with AH there just isn't enough food to work it, which is why the plains hill site intrigues me: faster worker, faster second worker, faster settler = settle with 2nd city for gems? Still got IMP so third settler isn't hard to get either for copper/horse...
