I decided to show Alhazard that putting lots of shit into your cities does not counter naval superiority once you managed to really piss off your opponent. Offered peace yet again.
By the way, I actually killed more power than I lost, rolls were surprisingly lucky, though in an ironic way. I won a lot of low-odds battles with Praets I wanted to get rid of but lost several precious amphibious Muskets in coinflip battles.

Alhazard refuses to make peace. He also refuses to research Steel or MilScience, thus surrendering me the control of the seas. Instead, he went Printing Press. I think, he realized that his garrisons would become totally useless the moment I become able to mass-produce amphibious Riflemen and judged Rifling as more important research target. This, I think, gives me a window large enough to raze his Moai city. But we will see.

Alhazard, I think I got you.
As I have said, I am preparing for a long game here. I am building a lot of infra at the back of it. Oxford is completed which is a rare sight and now I want to get Notre Dame. Right now happiness is not a problem but it may become one in protracted late-game wars.

Alhazard had too few ships running around, so I naturally assumed that he wants to attack me from a different angle. I sent a Privateer out to scout and... bingo. This fleet is neatly set to hit Dinah on T230. I internally debated deleting my scout but decided against it. I won't be able to kill this fleet when it arrives, though I will be able to defend Dinah, thanks to the early warning. I am going to lose Mock Turtle, however, a new city which I founded on an island near Commodore (I thought I took a picture of it but apparently I forgot). It's a freshly founded size one city but still. So, I would prefer 'hazard to just turn back here.
I will hit his capital with that on T 229. It had only 8 LBs defending the last time I checked. By the way, there are four frigates near the capital but they are just sitting there and not doing any scouting. Alhazard is really plating way too passively here, he has enough resources to maintain a sentry net that far from my coast.
In other news: on a turn roll I discovered that Alhazard stole Economics Merchant from me. A questionable choice of priorities, I must say, given that he is behind in naval military tech and will be behind in land military tech very soon: I can research Rifling any moment and only wait for SD to get it to give me the research bonus.

It appears that 'hazard killed my Privateer and turned his fleet away. At least, I can't find it. Also, and more importantly, I got research visibility on him... He is saving money on Scientific Method. Seriously, man? Refuse peace with me and ignore military tech - is that your fucking plan? If you don't have Rifles in 15 turns, I raze every single coastal city you have, mark my word. I was going to offer peace once again after (and if) his capital falls but I am not even sure any longer if I have to: he is gonna science himself into military irrelevance.

That's what you get for refusing my peace offers thrice. Immensely satisfying. Does he think that the war with me is a joke or what?
Lost 1 Privateer, 4 Frigates (had to eliminate a screening force guarding the naval path to the city), 10 Praets and 3 Muskets, killed 4 Frigates and 9 Longbows. And, of course, a size 14 capital with Pyramids inside.

Well I had no choice on peace. If I peaced out you would have killed SD and that would be game also.
Also right now its getting very busy at work and just didnt have time to devote to this game anymore. Now commuting to a corporate office (usually I work at home) to train temporary employees for peak season and I am doing overtime at home also.

SD teched to cavalry right on the turn of concession. Taking him out would not be easy at all, his low power does not tell the whole story. He had tech and strategic depth to put up a good fight.
