PBEM2 Postgame Thread

Krill Wrote:Wasn't that if you went for a space victory? And I decided to not take that deal so I'd keep the island?

I thought you accepted the deal huh.

Edit: I distinctly remember you complaining about the culture bomb value of a GA on Quick speed. Maybe I just made a bad assumption but I played the rest of the game as if that deal was accepted. For some reason I don't have any chats/e-mails in my gmail archive, maybe you can check?

Oh...well in that case I am 100% sure you accepted the deal, just give me a few minutes to forge...err, I mean to find the chat. Ah, here it is:

Quote:Krill: That deal rules, I accpet.
Darrell: Okay.
Krill: I wish I could be cool and do good deal ideas like that. YOu are so smart.
Darrell: Stop, I'm blushing.

I'd just like to say reading this thread has reminded me that I would pay 40 billion internets to see a PB/PBEM involving Sulla and Krill.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

I seem to remember that Krill was close to "changing sides" and attacking Darrell over the whole Steel thing...

Hey T-Hawk,

I thought I'd just make a comment about the map. I really like the uniqueness of this map, particularly when compared to others that have been used in the PBEM's here.

I was pretty peeved at my start although I must admit, I think my skill at Civ 4 actually improved 3 or 4 times from the start of this game until now. Much of that came from lurking some of the other threads here from all the other games that started (and finished!) over that time period. I was a monarch player at the start and now I can win on immortal - sometimes! If I had a better start I don't know that I would have really used it! lol

Really I should have taken advantage of the situation on Ruff and Yaz's island. Ruff was fair crippled and instead of propping him up I should have taken his lands for myself. As it turned out I ended up with a pretty funnily shaped empire that was all a bit of a mess...

I did find it amusing that my people had the knowledge of Agriculture from 4000BC but I didn't build a single farm... Because I couldn't! No fresh water at all! ha ha.

A great learning experience guys so thanks for the game, even if it wasn't a great one...

Well played Krill - you were going to get there eventually - how many turns away from destroyers were you at the end?
Reply

I wasn't going for destroyers, but for subs. I think we were about 6 turns from them at the end, maybe 5. I was going to go N2 on them (6 move) and just hide a stack under my SoL, and move my SoL to a really stupid pace next to you to see if you attacked. You'd have lost your entire navy the turn after unless you hid them in a city. Then I'd have cut every sea food resource, readied the galleons/subs to float over the nukes about 6 turns after that (I could build the MP after Fission was in and before Rocketry arrived) and walked through a nuclear winter wonderland.

FWIW I'm still a bit peeved I couldn't get to Dreylins capital. I had my units in range and Dreylin had too much in his cap on the second turn of the war. If Darrell hadn't given up Steel I might have gotten the cap and a good foot hold with an artist I saved for a bomb, and the war could have been very different. As it was we got WW1 on the sea.

You did well though SL, minimizing city losses and not getting drawn out of position.

If you're not going to bother forging a convincing chat, I'm not going to bother responding :neenernee.

Yeah. Yeah he was. This was Darrell's timeline though, I didn't find that out until after the game was decided.

I agree with this 100%! I also thought the players in the game were exactly the kinds of people I enjoy playing with...even Yaz when he was humiliating me, or Dreylin when he was punishing my attempt to play all sides, or Krill when he was being himself.
