Square Leg and I had a chat this morning:
Quote:<unrelated stuff snipped>
so in ffh3 - I think we will the target of much talk after taking out Bannor...
9:54 AM It may cause poeple like the Sheaim, Elohim and Launan to start talking....
7 minutes
10:01 AM Thoth: oh yes. Especially after people see my recent explosive GNP growth. I've got NAPs to t 130/135/140 and Mardoc doesn't have any contacts other than me and Mr. Yellow so while I expect to get dogpiled at some point I do have some time to prepare
10:02 AM I'm also well ahead on city count right now. 8 for me, 6 for Mardoc, 5 for the Elfs and Elohim. I have no idea what Irgy is up to but since he hasn't PZ rushed anyone yet, I'm guessing he's planning on summoning Hyborem.
10:03 AM Square Leg: Either that or he is planning on building up mages.
and then running around with spectres
supported by pz's
10:05 AM Thoth: possible. I took a SP spin with the Sheam and an adept supported PZ rush is nasty. PZs with a first strike supported by 2 move skellies that get C1 for free....nasty and can be done quite early if you bulb KotE
10:06 AM Square Leg: Is he os or teb?
10:08 AM if Teb then the adept/mage route is much quicker since he is arc.
Thoth: In his shoes I would have seriously considered PZ rushing the elfs. Exploding PZs set forests on fire and Ents are vulnerable to fire. He probably couldn't make a kill but he could severely cripple Nyktorion.
Tebryn
Arcane/Summoner/Sundered is a nasty combination.
10:09 AM Life 2 mages are definitely going to be part of my OOB.
Square Leg: yeah - especially once those summons get strong. Even with 2 death nodes throw away 5strength summons that can move twice are really strong!
10:10 AM Life 2 with be essential for fighting him
xost!
10:11 AM Thoth: Oh yes. The good thing is that he has no economic trait. Once he does get his toys in play he'll be dangerous but it will take time to get those toys.
10:12 AM Square Leg: He may save up a sage to bulb sorcery but that is still a while away yet
Thoth: That desert to my south/east is a godsend. Slow to cross, defensive penalty to any unit defending and not likely to be settled any time soon. And there are 3 st 8 gargoyles running around to help keep things interesting
10:13 AM Sorcery is a bitch to bulb. Alteration, Elementalism, Divination and Necromancy all have higher bulb priorities than Sorcery.
Square Leg: ah - ok
10:14 AM Thoth: 2560 beakers to get all 4. Sorcery is ~2k beakers
Square Leg: yeah - sorry - it is arcane lore i am thinking of sages bulbing - which is easy!
10:15 AM Thoth: Unless I've missed something in the log WarriorKnight is the only other person in the game to have generated a great person so far.
Square Leg: If arcane though he will just go through Necromancy
maybe bulb elementalism for the beaker discount...
10:16 AM Thoth: necromancy-->Sorcery makes sense, though it might be worth teching one of Alteration/Elementalism as well depending on his force mix. PZs with Enchanted blade.....
10:17 AM Square Leg: we have digressed slightly! I think buddying up to the elves would be good in the long run
10:19 AM Thoth: Yeah I'd like to get Nyktorion onside. So far he's been decent to deal with but once I start pulling ahead in every demographic category + city count he will likely start getting concerned.
10:20 AM Square Leg: that is when you have to offer him something he can't refuse...
10:21 AM It depends on the situation but the ay I see it i if you can get a decent relationship going with him - it is 1 less border to worry about!
10:22 AM Thoth: I'm not sure what I can offer him right now. East Bannorland is already his.
Square Leg: something will come up - just a nice trade or something.
a temple founding by a priest.
10:23 AM Thoth: Having my ne border secure would be awesome, it would make defensive logistics much easier and would enable a Cultist based strike on the Pirates
Square Leg: OO is their own worst enemy!
10:24 AM Thoth: We have an agreement in principle to do a priest-temple swap once the war is over. No details yet, but I can sweeten the pot by offering an extra temple or two for him.
10:25 AM Coastal cities are hideously vulnerable to an opponent with OO priests. The Lanun are powerful on the seas, but that's a sword that can cut both ways indeed.
10:26 AM Square Leg: do tsunami's rip up pirate coves?
10:29 AM Thoth: Yep. 2-3 tsunamis and there isn't a coast tile improvement within 2 tiles (applies to fishing nets, coves and seaside tiles)
10:30 AM If I do go after him I'd prefer to capture his cities with the coves intact but not if it means taking casualties to do it.
10:32 AM Square Leg: much like when attacking the elves - it is much nicer to keep their improvements if possible
10:33 AM well - it is a lovely afternoon here in the Uk and the sun is shining so I'm off to go drink beer outside somewhere!
nice talking to you
5 minutes
10:39 AM Thoth: Have fun!
