A blockade is always 3 tiles no?
How can a 2 move boat (Trireme) cover that many tiles. Blockade area should be linked to ships movement and thus a 2 move boat - cannot blockade.

A blockade is 5 tiles! It's 2 tiles in every direction, so a 5x5 square (I think)

It shouldn't even be in the game, it drastically breaks the tactics in naval warfare.

So here's the damage
The 3 coastal cities are starving, and the island cities are starving hard core. Not only are some of the tiles blockaded, but a lot of the island cities have all their trade routes cut off, so they have no health.
And that goes the other way as well, as even my mainland cities are hurting due to the loss of health from the offshore deer as well as the fish / crabs / clams / etc.
In cities where I'm going to bleed pop, I have drafted and set up the most expensive thing I can (usually banks) to whip.
Paper came in at the end of turn and I am on Printing Press.

Three tiles in every direction, so a 7x7 square.

Yay!
More blockading! Including by Shoot's menacing frigate named "Death to Triremes"
Ah but he does not realize that I TOO have a Death to Triremes in the Mayan navy!!
Granted, that will probably be killed next turn but at least it lifts the blockade (in 2 cities) this turn, and makes him spend a turn not blockading me NEXT turn (since he has to kill the galleon)

I believe I've pl ayed 2 turns since the last update - not much new to update. Building cats and curs (with the occasional galleon).
Figured out that it would take 3+ galleons to take out 1 frigate, which given that destroyers are impending, doesn't really seem worth it. He is blockading me with 1 galleon and 1 trireme so I hope to at least make those runaway (or be replaced)
In hindsight, Astro was a bad move - should have continued on to Rifling.
I'm currently 3t from PP, and my tech pace is awful - losing all my sea commerce and having to draft down starving cities obviously hasn't been useful

Turn back around. On defense, my galleon beat his C3 Galleon @ 72% (for him) odds. Another galleon I had was destroyed by a frigate. On my turn my galleon killed one of his triremes.
It DOES look like it's possible to attack and blockade in the same turn.
Science turned back on - PP in 3 turns.

He's down to just 2 Frigates and 2 Galleons visible. I have 3 Galleons along with 2 galleys and a trireme.
Oh, and 38 catapults

I think you need some aquapults instead.
