The other point is that PBEMs only work if everyone sticks to their allotted time frame. If you can't do that, then PBEM isn't for you.

1. Nukes?
No
2. Restricted/Unrestricted Leaders?
Unrestricted with snake pick
3. Land/Water ratio?
Up to 60-70% water is fine by me. Actually, let's just leave this up to our mapmaker.
4. Duplicate Civ/Leaders?
No, unless everybody is the same. That could be interesting.
5. Huts?
No
6. Spies/Missions?
No
5. Random Events?
Yes. Sadly, I doubt this will pass.
7. Great Spy restrictions?
Yes
8. Vassal States?
No.
9. HE/WP unit gift ban?
Must unlock HE/WP with your own unit. I have no problem with GG gifts unlocking it though.
10. Snake Pick?
Yes
11. Game speed?
Normal
12. Difficulty?
No preference.
13. Ban any civ/leader?
I like the ban list used in PB4, it seems to have worked well. It was: Tatan's Leader/Civ Ban List (plus HC & Vicky)
14. Barbarians?
No. Unless they are Locke/Cervantes.
15. World Wrap?
No preference.
16. Internet?
No preference.
Best playing time if PBEM: 2300-0300 GMT Other preferences/stuff: No Tech Trading. If tech trading is allowed, then no brokering. Normal speed 24-Hour Turn Timer Pauses only by consensus or for technical/rules issues. AI Takeover turned on, but only for security purposes. No Changing Builds/Research Late in Turn in Bad Faith/Consistently Starting Units: scout starts replaced with a warrior. No diplomacy until players meet in-game Screenshot and Map trading permitted at first contact No game enforced Permanent Alliances No War Elephants or related UUs Ivory is mapmaker's decision (no elephants regardless) Spoiler thread is required. You don't have to update it consistently, but we don't need another WarlordDR situation. Also, good sportsmanship is expected. Ideally we'll also have a single person we agree on who will serve as the Voice of Authority.
Fine by me. I like your maps, mostly. (Some of the locations were a lot more isolated than others in PB4.)
pling Wrote:Signup List: Unfortunately I no longer think I have the time for another game. Hope you guys get one going and have fun though.
I can do a natural type map such as PB4, or an equalized map such as PB2/PBEM7. There are always going to be inequalities in unequalized maps though.
Still stand by my post, can play once a day, but not maybe once per 12 hour slot (should i need to war in PB)
Anyway, my thoughts are: 1. Nukes? No 2. Restricted/Unrestricted Leaders? Unrestricted Snake 3. Land/Water ratio? Map maker 4. Duplicate Civ/Leaders? No 5. Huts? No 6. Spies/Missions? Yes 5. Random Events? No 7. Great Spy restrictions? No 8. Vassal States? No 9. HE/WP unit gift ban? Yes 10. Snake Pick? Yes 11. Game speed? Any 12. Difficulty? Any 13. Ban any civ/leader? India, more than 1 of top ability choices 14. Barbarians? No 15. World Wrap? Map makers 16. Internet? No preference
I'm fine with some inequalities. In fact I did like a lot of things about the PB4 map(as well as the PB2 map.)

Yay, life! :neenernee I'm compiling a list of votes, I'll update you once more of you replied. Adding to the bottom of the questions a few things Ellimist gave opinions on (not the PB specific settings yet, that can be decided once you know if it's PB). New question numbers bolded. Yes, the numbering goes screwy on the list near the top, just ignore it
1. Nukes? 2. Restricted/Unrestricted Leaders? 3. Land/Water ratio? 4. Duplicate Civ/Leaders? 5. Huts? 6. Spies/Missions? 5. Random Events? 7. Great Spy restrictions? 8. Vassal States? 9. Currently up-to-date player list (bold=confirmed):
With Kuro waiting to see if there's space. I'm assuming Ellimist speaks for his whole team, btw

It's More Fun to be Jack of All Trades than Master of One.
I'm not totally sure I'm up for a diplomacy game, but I'll weigh in on the other preferences if I'm playing. Obviously be sure to discount my vote if I end up not joining.
1. Nukes? No. 2. Restricted/Unrestricted Leaders? Unrestricted, snake pick. 3. Land/Water ratio? Strategically significant bodies of water. I think the mapmaker should give us a general idea of how much water there will be (since it affects picks, duh). 4. Duplicate Civ/Leaders? No. 5. Huts? Don't care too much, probably not I guess. 6. Spies/Missions? No. 5. Random Events? Don't care too much, BTS events are mostly not very significant. 7. Great Spy restrictions? Settle/GA. 8. Vassal States? No. 9. HE/WP unit gift ban? Yes (to ban). 10. Snake Pick? Yes. 11. Game speed? Probably quick, unless there's a large number of players (but I probably can't play a large diplomacy game). 12. Difficulty? Not sure about this one, not enough experience to have an opinion. Not Deity, and obviously nothing below Noble. 13. Ban any civ/leader? Depends on number of players. No bans is good for a small number of players, but a good ban list is okay with me. 14. Barbarians? No preference. 15. World Wrap? Mapmaker. 16. Internet? No. 17. Replace starting scouts with warriors? Yes. 18. When can you start with diplo? (ie immediately or when you meet) When you meet. (Strongly prefer no out of game diplo, only in-game trades) 19. Screenshot/Map trading from when? Screenshot/Map trading with Paper. Describing terrain is obviously OK. 20. Permanent Alliance (in game setting)? No. 21. War Elephants? No. 22. Ivory? Sure, no reason not to ban it if WEs are banned.
