That doesn't tally with what your screenshot shows above.

Normally I would think that the screenshot is a trap, and believe the player, but it's Darrell so I'm more inclined to think that he's just trying to cover up his mistake.

The stupid Skeleton followed me:
I'll at least step on the Wheat next turn. I rule them all! What nice prod this early in the game. Gonna get a few Warriors out while growing to the Silk tile at least. Darrell
Nice production indeed!
Did you switch out of Pacifism? Thanks to the Gold mine, you should be able to bang out two Warriors, with enough overflow for a Market on the third turn, finishing it as you grow to size 6, and start a Settler. I've been thinking a bit about this game, and more specifically which GP to generate, because as Darrell has shown, the GPP costs are exhorbitant in a Team game. So I need to chose wisely, because I will probably only be able to generate one in this game. Great Sage: This game won't last long enough for an Academy to become cost effective, and KotE is too cheap a technology to bulb. - nope Great Merchant: I should check what I can bulb with it after discovering Education (Code of Laws?), but if I do generate one, I guess settling in the capital makes the most sense. - maybe Great Prophet: Generating one would involve building a cheap Pagan Temple (thanks to SPI). Options include bulbing for RoK, or settling in the capital. - unlikely Great Artist: Now this one got me thinking. We were discussing making a run for Drama, and getting the free Artist to bulb Sanitation. Unfortunately, I don't think we can spare the beakers, if we want to get all the techs needed to prepare our invasion force. So, why don't I build a Carnival in my second city (probably near Yggdrasil), and run an Artist? It'll allow me to pop the borders, and once the Artist is in, simply bulb Drama, get the free Artist, then bulb Sanitation. I'll probably run an Artist for a while, then add a Merchant while running Pacifism, for 9 GGP/turn. If I get a Merchant at low odds, too bad, I'll just settle it then. Thoughts?
Its an interesting idea...I still prefer a GM for the following reasons:
1. As nice a tech as Sanitation is, it is not essential for our strategy. I think the beakers have to be devalued as a result. 2. A Carnival has an opportunity cost you don't have with a FIN Market. 3. The cash is going to allow us to both tech AND upgrade. The dual use (and the fact that the techs will be on our mainline). That said, I suggest you do what you'll have the most fun with . Darrell P.S. I did not swap out of Pacifism. I'd say it was part of some secret master plan, but no one believes me anymore .
Well, don't forget we'll be building our troops with food after switching to Conquest. I can't remember if the hammer cost for Catapults and Adepts has been reduced, but at 60 hammers a unit, the extra food would certainly come in handy.
I'm at 250 gold already, so it's not as if I'll have a need of the extra gold from the settled Merchant. That said, I think I'll run both the Merchant and Artist together at the same time, and let fate decide which GP is born.
The Warrior was in the city.
If I was them I'd have a new Warrior coming out next turn, and cover the Worker with the current Warrior. Darrell
T26 played.
Here's my planned second city: No resources in the first ring, but beggars can't be choosers. This is slightly mitigated by Yggdrasil in the city's BFC, adding another happy to the city, and the fact it'll have 5 grass river farms to work, which will be enough to make the city productive. Once the borders have popped, it will be a great military production site. This site will block access to my lands from the east, as shown below. Don't mind the Sentry scout sign, because I'll need to get one to C3 before I can have him pick the Sentry promotion, and I doubt I'll be able to get a Scout to 17 exp in this game... I'll just need to chop the forests indicated to have a clear line of sight. Why bother with all this you may ask, and not just build a Hawk? Well, because they were clearly overpowered, Hawk access was moved to Animal Handling, which needs Hunting and Animal Husbandry to research. Not on our research path! |
