Well, is the long pole the research or the GPs? I would say that it's very easy to have enough Great Prophets available by the time Divine Essence is reached, so super quick GP generation isn't something you need to play with. Unless you suddenly realize at the end of the game that you want to go for an Altar victory in which case generating the GPs becomes the biggest issue.

Nah, PB was in OO. He just had very large cities (as you'd expect...), National Epic, and nobody to bother him.

I guess it comes back to the question of how we want to win.
For the time being, though, we scout!

I am *so* robbing that graveyard.

And, it looks like Insert_Name_Here will manage to hit size 3 in time for workboat construction season! That'll mean 3 turn workboats while still being able to work the Fish tile.
Also, apparently Tatan did not go worker first, while everyone else did. Yeah, I think I'm right to put him as the least worrisome of my opponents. Worker-first was nearly the right answer even for the Lanun!

All game. Regardless of exploring unit level.
Do you want to have 20% at say Ancient Chants now, or 20% chance at something like Arcane Lore 100 turns later?

Everything else proceeding according to plan, with the little bonus of the Supplies, if they're not Gorilla or Tiger food.
Given that you're so close to 100 gold, is it worth a brief pause after Fishing (when we know the worker will be behind the techs anyway) to top up for any expensive events?

I'm actually not sure. The gold would certainly mean a lot more now than later; a tech now is bound to be one we want eventually, too, which isn't true later on. And it's quite likely that it would save the same amount of research turns, which is after all what matters.

Well, I decided to hold off, for now anyway.

The other thing is, nlike lizardmen who are a bit too scary, skeletons provide a nice stream of xp for your units

This graveyard, not a barrow. Graveyards don't spawn skellies.
