This Time for Sure: Mardoc reprises the Lanun

Thoth Wrote:Any thoughts from you or Mardoc on the proposed dot map? wink

Hold your horses, I'll get there. Uh...probably Sunday, though. Or maybe Monday. Sometime next week, anyway. Too busy playing cards and board games and being social (and eating).

Hope you're enjoying your holiday weekend. :hat:

just a comment on the coves, doesn't there have to be 2 spares gap between coves, and don't they have to be coastal? Hence I make botht he proposed 3 cove cities to be 2 cove ones.

Sorry, Thoth. I'll comment on the dotmap when I have more time... but we also have more information!

We got an event, and at this time it's a good one (maybe less so long term).

Mushrooms are on the grass hill SE of the capital, so I'm afraid you need to redo the sandboxing lol

The scout also found some luxuries to go with all the food in the East. Sadly, both are jungled.

Having switched to the improved tile, we now have a commanding advantage in virtually every way!

Awesome. :hat: We'll still want a mine on that tile, but that extra food is going to seriously help our early game. :hat:

The jungle isn't a big problem. We'll have more than enough beakers to get to Bronze before we settle the Deer/Gems site (a city 1N of the Deer will make a very solid hammer site)

Ran a pair of sims:

Early micro was the same in both:

Once we grow to size 2 (eot 4), work the Corn and Mushrooms for 3 turns, then swap the corn for the Wines. Growth to size 3 at eot 8. A bit of tile juggling gets the warrior and Fishing completed at eot 11.

Build 1st workboat using Mushrooms + 2 Forested Grass hills (3 turns to complete)

Sim 1): Used the 1st workboat to Cove the lake, worked Cove, Mushrooms, FGH to build second WB (4t). Growth to size 4 as the WB completes. Make second Cove with wb. 3rd WB also takes 4 turns and completes 1 turn before growth to size 5. Net Fish and put 1 turn into Sea Haven. Then built two workers (4t and 3t). Farmeed Corn, Plantation on Dyes, Winery on wines, road on dyes, both workers move to FGH to Mine (movement for worker 1 occurs the turn before Mining comes in, worker 2 moves to the FGH the turn after. Mine the hill with the chop going into the settler.

AH finishes at eot 39, settler at eot 40. Hill to the north of capital is mined and roaded, as is the Plantation and Winery. Road link to cow/rice city complete t41, city settled t41. Workers are in position to immediately start farming the Rice/paturing Cows and farming two river grass before mining the hills.

Revolted to Agrarianism/Religion while the settler was enroute with an eye to teching AC/Myst/MftD. Access to OO means we never have to build a monument. wink

Sim 2) Netted Fish first, then the coves. Workers built at size 6 after putting 1 turn into the Sea Haven. Settler finished at eot 39 along with AH. Mining was delayed slightly, but got 1 extra turn into a road before moving both workers to the FGH to mine. Workers have road completed to expansion city +1 worker turn into a farm for expansion city. No road on the FGH.

Sim 2 looks stronger to me.

Big difference came at turn 50: Sim 1 I had zero barb problems, sim 2 I had a lot of incoming warriors .

You stole the barbs' fish, man.

lol

More to do with the RNG I think. The barbs will start spawning in earnest at t 50, and they tend to pick one civ at a time to target.

If Mining reveals copper, we'll want Bronze sooner rather than later. smile

Wow, thanks MBTM! The turn kept moving very quickly, I think maybe it was even faster than when I'm around lol. Feel free to keep grabbing saves, although I'm going to try to make sure I play some of them as well.

Mushrooms are going to be extremely helpful, too smile.

I'll hopefully have more detailed comments later, on dotmaps and micro plans and whatnot. Getting myself back on track with chores and all the other games as well.

And with that, the turn came around already. Played, pretty much just hit enter. Although I did find something tasty with the scout:
