The Empire is in crisis as I commence my turns. We are in Stasis, so unable to produce more units. Hyborem is lurking on our borders, the Illians are invading, a stack of bad guys was apparently just generated by exploration of the Broken Sepulcher, our cities are barely garrisoned, and what army we do have is off trying to take some crap Illian city:
My plan: take out the giant and his buddies. Move the fastest units to stop the incoming Illians. Survive Stasis.
After Ring of Flames, I was able to take out Arganentth the Brutal (great name!) and his spider babies. Here's the "after" shot:
Another Undercouncil proposal rolled off the assembly line. Sure, cheap Gambling Houses would be nice, I guess:
Here's how to pop an epic lair, guys:
And, a stupid elephant is blocking my adept/ritualist stack from attacking the Illians. Grrr.
The Illian stack arrives:
I attacked out with Rosier, and killed one of the Javilineers. Next turn, they moved south (?) instead of attacking, and I had more than enough firepower to finish them off.
On turn 182, we finally emerged from Stasis. Here's a bad bug in the game: expenses are calculated, but not income. So you need to keep a reserve of 2x your annual expenses (you get hit when entering Stasis, then again when leaving :mad if the Illians are in the game. Dumb.
So, just for a final kick in the nuts, I lose my only Ritualist. It couldn't have been one of the stupid Frostling slaves?
The situation is still grim. Hell terrain is spreading relentlessly through our lands; if I were playing this solo, I'd probably go for a Life node and start Sanctifying. Hyborem needs to die.
Hum.
Alright, it looks like I can't get the V8 patch working for some reason(and never had it working, although I didn't know that until playing the save this time). Can I be put on a swap for the moment? I'm sure I'll figure it out soon enough.
EDIT: Actually, I think I've got it working now. I'll get the save played through tomorrow. Sorry for the hold up.

Couldn't you convert to Order and stop the hell terrain?
