Okay that's not really a question but are there different kinds / different slots for different kinds of (desktop) computers?
Just buy a USB one. It can be used with all your computers without opening the case. When you don't need it, you can unplug it and save power usage abit, while internal ones always drain power.

Just FYI, my mobo didn't have a IDE spot, so I have to get a new DVD drive w/ SATA to install Windows...
Also, flug_auto is right. USB ones are legit as well.

I should get my new PC in about 10 days. What do you suggest is the first thing I do ...
- take an image of the C drive?
- move the data files to a new location?
- create a Win7 admin account and a Win7 non-admin account?
- install Civ IV and play a game?
- Other (please suggest)?
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

Sorry, I couldn't either.
Im ordering a new PC too! I was going for a i5-2500k as well, but i might back off a bit - at least on bunch of the components - as this is just going to be a secondary PC build - something for the office/kids to browse on. The only thing i'm really set on is getting a SSD as a boot/swap drive.

The boot/swap drive is disposable. And trusting your personal data to a single drive (and location) is courting catastrophic data loss.

I looked at that too ... not sure I want to trust a SSD just yet. Let me know how you get on. Your boot drive is expendable, what's not is your personal data as has been mentioned before.
