Turn 7 - 3720BC

Warrior moved SE, revealed very little.

Here the demographics.

Hunting tech in next turn. I kind of hope it is not just us who gets a point increase next turn. With 8 rivals there is bound to be at least one, that goes purely by the points in order to decide who to attack.

As for the next warrior movement I suggest to divert from the original plan (SW) and go SE one more turn, onto that hill, revealing a lot more tiles. Then curve in SE-SE afterwards, like in this picture:

And we know that there is no city in the way of this route. wink

Agree on the slight detour - we will still get all the tiles in the fog to our west. What about continuing two more tiles SW to the FGH straight southeast of our city? That will reveal all the tiles to our south east of the mountains, and then we can go back north to pre-place our warrior for settling Mansa's Muse?

The alternative would be to continue scouting south of the mountain chain, and use a new-built warrior from the capital to secure the settling party.

ETA: As for the score increase, there are only three candidates for a score increase next turn: Spanish, CFC, and CivFR. I'm reasonably sure Spanish and CFC (all the rest settled T1 and have GNP 16) don't have a deer in their BFC. That leaves CivFR. They will have their worker T11, the same turn they realistically research Agriculture.

So, sorry m_h, I think we will be the first team with a score increase. alright

I guess that comes down to micro planning it. We need a warrior for settler protection and one at Adventure One before it hits size 5.

Why don't we switch tech to pottery and delay hunting a couple turns.

E: I mean we could delay hunting for like 6 or 7 more turns even.

If we are to switch, switch to Mining for one turn. That way the switch won't be noticed on the demos. That delays Pottery to T21, but our worker is busy camping the deer up to T20, so we won't lose any worker turns regardless (no matter which micro plan we settle on).

That gives us Hunting T9, and I think there is a reasonable chance that one more civ will go for Hunting first, most probably WPC or Apolyton.

Meh, who cares if our gnp spikes slightly for a couple turns. That will actually confuse people more. We could delay hunting enough turns so that it seems like we teched AH or Pottery first. If we're gonna mess with people, we should go full monty.

In any case we should change it this turn before the turn rolls.

Agree with changing tech to Pottery unless there's a very good reason not to.

Oh please. Can we not mess with research for trivial reasons like that? rolleye Just research the stupid techs we want and stop trying to outsmart yourselves. I don't care what other teams are doing at this point, I want our team to execute the most optimum opening possible. If they can tell what we're doing through Demographics spying, more power to them.

Put in my vote with switching techs. Hurts us absolutely nothing.

I highly doubt any team is going to lock itself into warring with the team that gets the first score increase in the game. That's such a minor and trivial thing compared to all the other factors in play that it's not really worth considering. Indeed, the thought probably hasn't even occurred to most of the teams - and I've certainly never seen it brought up in any previous game I've been in, aside from in a completely jovial manner.

Let's not assume our rivals to be mindless automatons incapable of reason - they're intelligent folks too. wink
