How likely is such an emergency? In a real emergency we can always dry-whip a warrior.
I have to run.

Well, we assumed a staggered civ placement on the world map and from what CFC told us they are our SE neighbour kind of confirming that assumptions. Which means that we also have a NE neighbour in roughly the same distance. MM is settled straight in that direction.
I think the micro plan is not fixed for the time after the next 10 turns or so, but I assume we will chop/whip the granary maybe?
Will a turn less production have a huge impact on the MM snowball, is the question.

You're going to have to trust kjn and SevenSpirits on this one. Next turn we go over to the plains cottage, and then we'll be size 5 working both cottages.
Seven wasn't involved in that microplan - this one is all mine. But I believe you tested it out yourself.
And at size 5 we won't be working both cottages - we'll be back to working the Deer and the plains cottage - don't screw up this plan! It required lots of counting to get right - and then I nearly screwed it up irredeemably myself!
Sullla Wrote:Our new second city working the deer tile. Here's a genuine question: do we want to build a granary or warrior here first? It's a fair question. Granary gets the city off to a faster start, another warrior lets us explore and gives us a bit more safety. We are swapping to a worker at size 2 in either case, I believe. Let's hear a little feedback on this. The capital will give us a third warrior, so the question is whether we want a fourth.
Good question.
I'd really like to have a fourth warrior relatively soon to help secure our third city and act as reinforcement for any trouble-spot, but we are going to chop the forest 1N of MM right after we finish the mine, right? I'd really like those chop hammers to go to a worker and a granary, and not a warrior.
One way is to go Warrior -> Worker (swap at size 2/T39) -> Granary (overflow + chop) -> Warrior (finished T48) -> Granary (finished T50).
It will mean that the granary in MM won't start working until size 3, which isn't optimal, but makes it possible to push out a quick warrior if needed.
Part of this will also depend on how quickly the other teams are settling - I believe the cutoff is that there are more than twice the number of cities as the number of players. Ie, 19 cities settled in our case.

Can we please update the first post in the microplanning thread accordingly?

Seems to me we should swap immediately to a worker at size 2 as that's the turn MM is working the deer camp and we surely prefer that food to be converted to hammers since we don't have a granary yet and don't have any particular need to reach size 3.
Given this, it makes more sense to start a granary now than a warrior, since we will be finishing a worker first anyway.

On T36 AO is working, according to the plan:
Corn
Plains cottage
2 * Floodplains cottage
Deer
MM is working its brand new Corn.
Please, everyone commenting on the micro plan: Download the sandbox and play through it yourself (this one has been played up to T12).

Calm down, don't kill me because I accidentally typed the wrong thing in the turn discussion. Yes, we are obviously working the deer tile in one of our two cities every turn.
Mansa's Muse is currently on a granary build. We have plenty of time to swap to warrior instead, although current sentiment seems to be in favor of the granary.

Sullla Wrote:Our worker/settler moves had to follow in this exact order:
1) Build road on the forest tile at the Mansa's Muse site.
2) Move settler E-NE along roads and settle the city.
3) Move the plains worker NE-E along the magical new city road and begin farming the corn.
Not exactly twitch reflexes or anything, but still important to do correctly. I'm trying to improve my micro - I like using the auto-road-with-new-found-city routine too ... but did we need it here? I would have thought that #1 (absolutely has to be first!) gave us the road we needed and then #2 and #3 could be done in either order.
Is that wrong?

The corn could not be farmed until the city was planted because we needed the corn to be inside our borders.
Generally in favor of granary first but I don't have a great feel for barb games.
