Can we clarify what tile we're talking about that we're cottaging? Originally it was the riverside plains but then Seven said "cottaging the grass."

Only mention I saw of the plains tile that belongs to MM, is to put a turn into a cottage there (which is the obvious thing to do while the worker moves towards AO).

Finishing the cottage on the plains could be a legitimate plan but I didn't see anyone suggest it.

I already said that I agreed with those suggestions. Look right at the top of this page:

Sullla Wrote:Alright, sounds like the best current option is to pre-cottage that plains tile next to Mansa's Muse next turn, and then do some pre-roading or pre-cottaging on the grassland river tile by the capital after that.

You don't have to keep re-making the same points over again. I heard you the first time.

Here's a map over the various options:

Magenta will be chopped T41-43 by a worker, and I think we should mine it too (gold+2 plains hills mines gives 4t-workers out of MM), probably as a separate action.

I think we should put a cottage-turn into Black - it can probably be completed relatively soon by workers coming out of MM that are going to other places.

Red has a cottage. The road will be built T42, and the worker is free for other work from T43. The road will speed up communication from MM to AO.

Blue is unimproved. We can start a cottage there on T41 by going straight to Red on T40. Finished T44, and the worker is available in T45. If want to avoid lost worker turns, it finishes T46, with the worker available from T47...

How soon will we use that grassland cottage? While building workers in AO (which probably will be the build after the settler, in finishing T51 or T52) the forested plains hill is a decent tile if MM steals the deer, or our third city steals some other tile.

So I'm not opposed to cottaging that tile relatively soon, but right now I put a higher emphasis of getting our third city off to a running start. We need the T43-T46 worker turns (from Apple and the new worker from MM) to speed the settler along to the intended spot and position them to improve its first tiles ASAP.

It's a demogame, right? Just because you as turn player have taken a position on something, doesn't mean everyone else should shut up. It's useful for our other team members to talk to each other, too.

kjn, I forgot the bare grass was not the same as the tile to road. Barring some new scouting information, I agree that roading that tile and then roading to city 3 looks best.

In any case, putting 1t into the plains cottage and 1t into the road is clear.

Basically this. Aside from other cities borrowing tiles from AO, we're basically running it at full capacity now until we can increase its happiness cap (religion, resources in the fog of war, or monarchy).

If a visible Copper resource shows up next turn though, we'll probably want to reconsider Worker MM, especially if it's near their current position.

CFC moved their warrior NE (away from our borders).
Also noteworthy is that two teams apart from the Germans have not ended their turns with two hours left on the clock. Could be contacts been made.
